Sorry to have to post something like this, but I have been receiving horror story after horror story the past few weeks, and there is absolutely no reason that you have to put up with any of those lies.
From DHEL28's agency placing 9 people in one apt without heat in NYC in the winter, and only one bathroom, they were told that accommodations were provided. And not even a bed, they had to buy that for themselves. To another agency incorrectly filling out documents so that the nurse got denied, then telling the nurse that the agency was going to pay for an attorney to go to Washington DC to correct things. But one year later they have not been resubmitted with the corrections, and number two, the immigration centers are not in Washington D.C. And this nurse was also told that the agency would know twenty seconds after arriving in the US that he was here. Impossible. And another that had a $25,000 cancellation policy but told that if she tried to leave, it would cost her about $100,000.
If you are having issues with your agency being untruthful and taking advantage of you, please contact the Embassy for your country here in the US, as well as the US Embassy in your home country where you had your interview.
Once you have arrived in the US, you cannot be deported. Do not let an agency threaten you with this. The green card gives you permanent residency.
Feel free to exchange names with each other via pm, but to post a list here could open this bulletin board up to a lawsuit for slander. Especially if nothing has been done by the government officials as of yet. There have been afew that have been mentioned to stay away form, but I, myself, cannot repeat them here. Sorry.
then what's the point?:chuckle :chuckle :chucklepeople won't know what to do with it.
red is a signal of??????we are not allowed to pass through red light.............we have to apply critical thinking skills we learned in the course of nclex preparation...there is a hidden meaning in red letters.......he.. he....he
Before signing any contract, additional steps to get check on:
1. If the agency is providing housing, get it in writing as to what the accommodations will be. For those if you that got placed with ten people to a studio apt, this is something that NY Board of Health needs to be notified of, it is actually illegal. Studio apts are made for one to two people. You could not have ten dogs in that space, so definitely not humans.
2. Get it in writing, where they are going to place you, not agency's choice at the last minute, or have it limited to state and city, and hospital.
3. I do not recommend a nursing home for any foreign nurses coming to the US, you will not get the orientation that you will need, as well as you will be responsible for at least thirty residents each shift. Not a safe thing for you.
4. Be aware of agencies that are not owned by medical people.
5. There are several agencies around, one being recently mentioned, that believes that you belong to them and you should not rock the boat, and they can place you where ever they well please. And that Filipinos should be happy with what is being done for them, and that they are too picky with an assignment. Funny thing is that many of the nurses coming over have more education than him, including doctorates, etc.
6. His company is now going to be recruiting in India, where they "will just follow." These quotes are from another forum, that actually had all of his posts removed for these things.
7. All I can add is buyer beware................
All the reports in this thread have made me apprehensive. I signed a contract with a California based agency. There is no specific amount in the cancellation clause but the contract stipulates that I will reimburse then for any fees they may have incurred in sponsoring me or in helping me get licensure, etc. At the moment, only the contract has been signed and they have not paid for any fees. I have not sent any documents for the filing of the I-140. The CEO of the company, which specializes in nurse recruitment, has been generally upfront in his dealings with me so far. However, all the horror stories recounted here makes me wonder if I should cancel the contract at the outset and just try to find a hospital that will directly hire me. Also, the contract I signed was very general and did not specify the place and the salary that I will be receiving. Can I still cancel the contract at this point? Or can I ask the CEO to make a new contract for me? Please help.
can the agency ( with whom i signed a contract with) file the i-140 petition on my behalf without any of the documents necessary (like my birth certificate, nursing education records and the like)? is it necessary for me to sign any document in the i-140 packet before it can be filed?
your i-140 has to be signed by both you and your employer. the file should contain all the necessary documents like- proof that you meet the qualifications{nursing transcripts, nclex passing results or license or cgfns certificate, visa screen certifiacte, birth certificate, marriage certificate(if applicable), previous work experience certificate(if aplicable), letter of job offer, employer's financial statements, notice of job availability/posting etc.}. petition can be filed without visa screen or other documents like birth certifiacte and the uscis will send a letter requesting for additional evidences but it can not be filed without your signature.

and do not give any of your original documents to your agency. just make a copy and send it to them. i met a girl who gave all her original documents to her agency but the agency then did not return it back until after she was alredy theer in the usa. they want to hold you....just be cautious.
