So here I am again, pulling my hair back, headband,no make up,whatever cloths, studying for Hesi,Nclex for the next couple of months, anyone else is the same?
No need to be on the defense, and I never called you conceited. I was merely trying to say that your comment about people saying you should be a model was irrelevant to this post.Anyway, I can appreciate the fact that you put time into caring for yourself (ie;showering, being neat) because I've had classmates that seem to veto those things....if you know what I mean!!:barf01:
I'm a fan of makeup myself (I have an orificenal of Bobbi Brown and Chanel goodies in my master bathroom) but just can't find the time in the morning to slap a little bit on. Ahh, if only there were more than 24 hours in a day....
Sorry if I seemed defensive. You're right it wasn't relevant. I'll have to try the Bobbi Brown one day. However I'm mac gir all the way
I know how you feel. I don't usually find it necessary to get all dressed up for 6 hours of lecture myself. I will usually get up, shower, and do my hair (because I think I look funny with it pulled up...except for clinical day...MUST be completely pinned back and off the collar!). I usually wear yoga pants and a tshirt to class...might as well be comfortable! Makes for better learning I think! If you are feeling down, throw on a little make up...when I'm short on time a little tinted SPF, blush, masacara and lip gloss do the trick! Also, I make it a point sometimes to dress up on the weekend...even if I'm just going shopping or to grab a bite to eat...ya just need to feel human sometimes!
I remember when I had my oldest son I refused to go to the hospital (I was in labor) until I had put my makeup on. I felt if I didn't have my makeup on then I would look just horrible. What I discovered as I got older is if I don't wear makeup I look normal, and when I do I look great, but I never look horrible. Everyone says I look much younger than what I am, and a big part of that is good skin which I contribute to the fact I let it breath most of the time. Do you know models generally do not wear makeup unless they are in a shoot or out for the evening etc? During their personal time they let their face breath.
Many years ago I was dating a guy, and had a really bad day. When I talked to him on the phone he told me to come over, and he would make me dinner to cheer me up. I explained to him that my hair was not fixed, my make up was not on, and I just I didn't have the energy to get myself together right then. He told me thats ok....your still you.... a bit of messy hair, and no makeup doesn't change who you are. I didn't understand it then, but I do get it now.
I always go to clinical looking professional, crisp, clean, but the absence of a little makeup won't stop me from shining through.

This reminds me of something. It's not just women that do this type of thing. I knew a male doc who got in the shower to wash his "oily hair" when he was having a heart attack, and he knew it. His wife couldn't get him out of the shower. He said he wasn't showing up in the ER with oily hair.
One time when I was homeless( long story), I had to go to the ER d/t an asthma attack. Anyway before I got discharged the doc came in and saw me putting on my make up. She looked concerned, as if she thought I was plan on tricking or something ( which I'd never do). So I look at her and said " Just because I'm homeless doesn't mean I have to look like it !"
Even at the roughest, toughest part of my life with being homeless and all, I still managed to look my best, so that no one would ever guess what was really going on.
No matter what I always try to look professional and half way decent.

Another great and quick product is Bare Escentuals' "Well Rested for eyes" http://store.bareescentuals.com/bareMinerals%20Well-Rested%20for%20Eyes/35954,default,pd.html?cgid=BE_SUB_MULTITASKINGMINERALS&deleteUUID= It is amazing. For the first weeks after having both of my children, my dark circles went totally unnoticed if I used this!
