Took the TEAS V. I got a 78.
I thought oh, no. That's awful. I hadn't studied a lick, so it's better than I'd expected...for not knowing what to expect.
When I told the admissions office I got a 78, they're jaws nearly hit the floor. Apparently, the average score at my campus is between 50 and 54.
Have you guys found the same to be true? How'd you do?
As we all can see, the score needed for one school might put you at the head of the class of another school, or simply deny you admission.
And the weight given the TEAS score also varies a lot, we must assume.
I took this out of town (summer offerings are fewer), where apparently 'passing' is 50% for, I think, an LPN program. Where I'm applying, 67% is minimum passing, and I've been told those accepted score in the 80's & 90's.
So, despite my mid-80's score, I'm redoing it, looking for smth in the 90's.
As with much life experience, "it's all relative."
CallieNM said:I scored a 60.4% my first try in April. I studied the ATI study guide and found a friend who knew Chemistry to show me what I was doing wrong. Retook the TEAS in July and scored an 80.7. I'm happy with that for sure. That is a big jump for me! I was in the 99th percentile of my program, which sounds promising, but I will not know if I got accepted into my LPN program until October.
I'm taking tomorrow. Any tips on what to review for Chemistry? Please and thank you.
When the ATI scores come out, when it says "Program average" or "Program percentile" is that for YOUR SCHOOL you are applying at? So when it said I was in the 99th percentile at the Program, it meant I was really good compared to other scores at my school? For what the past year? I know the "National average" is for the entire nation.
I am just curious as to if my 80.7% (99th percentile program average) is good for my program...
If anyone had this explained to them, if you could explain it to me. I just want to make sure I understand it correctly.

I got an 87.3 on the TEAS V, on July 26th 2012. I think it was easier than the online samples you get online with the ATI TEAS V workbook. Totally worth what it costs to get the actual TEAS V book from ATI AND STUDY it.
Best of luck to all the applicants and nursing students!
