how would you rate the atlanta medical center in downtown atlanta as a place to work?

also how is the cost of living there?

Try henry medical in stockbridge

I will be moving to the Atlanta area soon. Probably somewhere around McDonough or Stockbridge. Does anyone know anything about these areas? I know nothing about Atlanta. Is there a hospital near McDonough or Stockbridge that I could work in? I am an RN with ER experience. If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi guys,

I'm a 4th year BSN student at the University of Virginia and I'm planning to move to ATL in June.

I just stumbled upon this forum while looking for info on Grady...boy am I glad I found you! I had heard that Grady wasn't the best, but was gonna give it a try. I think I've changed my mind!!!

But, is Northside really a good place to work. I spoke to someone in human resources and had a VERY bad experience...they were rude and not very knowledeable about their own programs. What's worse? Their orientation for new grad nurses consists of only 3 days. Ummm? Can we say dangerous? If anyone out there has better info, please let me know. I'd hate to scratch them off my list if it truly is a good place to work.

Thanks!!

Try St. Joseph's. Better working conditions and morale. :p

I am still in my orientation period. So far it has been great. The nirses on my floor have a good attitude, work together well and have been very helpfull to me. The techs are awesome also, I really feel like I have picked the right place. Another perk of Northside is that they pay you a nurse's salary as soon as you graduate from your nursing program, you get paid the differential of a tech untill you have your license.

Do you have any idea what the techs are paid?

Thanks.

Hi all

Am a new grad and looking for any hospital that help with work authorisation. I have a student visa. Can you help me ask in the hospitals you work at

ABI 2004

I heard from a friend of mine who is an international student that St. Joseph, Emory, and possibly Wellstar are willing to sponsor. However, if you are willing to pay all the attorney fee and paperwork fee by yourself, I wouldn't see any reasons why any hospital wouldn't hire you. Just tell them that you will take care of sponsorship financially.

However, by this time, you probably found your sponsor already. Please let me know where you chose.

Do you have any idea what the techs are paid?

Thanks.

Anyway from 10-14 dollars.

Average probably 10.

Where I work now only pay 11.

around 1-1.75 for weekend.

around 1-1.75 for evening shift.

night shift probably earn more

It is very low pay for a very hard job. I just did it so that I can have more opportunities when finding a job after graduation.

Hi there everybody

Iam from the NYC and I want to move to Georgia in two years. Can someone please tell me in dollar amounts how much nurses make a year in Georgia especially in Atlanta?

In NYC the starting salary is around $60,000 bucks for new grads. Yep, $60,000 no joke

Does Georgia pay that well?

Hi all,

I am thinking of relocating to Savannah Ga. when my classes are done. I'm from California by way of Chicago. Can anyone give me a little information about the place. Will a city girl born and raised be able to fit in, are the people friendly. How's the weather, how are working conditions, what's a nice area to live in. Is the cost of living very high, can you find afforable housing. Which part of the city has the best schools. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks

I used to live in Smyrna off Windy Hill road and I loved the city. I rented an apartment in Vinings and it was a beautiful, reasonable area and so close to Buckhead. (Essex House Apartments) Kennesaw was a more country, inexpensive area to live when I was there. But it was developing fast.

One thing to consider. If the airbase there is still open it is loud!!!! I lived in an apartment near the base (cobb parkway) when I first moved to Georgia and it was awful. One time a plane crashed into one of the complexes and killed alot of people.

The sun is warmer, people are friendly, and you will meet people who are from Georgia that have never been to the city because they are afraid.

My roommate and I liked to go to piedmont park and we saw Emilio Estevez jogging with his bodyguard. It is a very cool and exciting town!!

If you are moving there you have to go to Helen Georgia in October for Octoberfest. Beautiful scenic drive, quaint german town.

Savannah is very beautiful and very southern. Cost of living was high. Living close to Florida is a big bonus. One thing you will learn about Georgia is overall everyone is friendly.

the husband of one of our nurses is currently in Savannah and he isn't impressed. I guess the touristy areas are nice, but the residential areas are kind of run down. outside of savannah is an area called "thunderbolt island" that is nice and the cost of living isn't too bad considering your right on the coast. do a "city search" and see what comes up. I live in Griffin, GA and did a city search and found that my area is 2 times the national average for assault !!!!eeks!

atlantarn

So where would you guys recommend in GA? I'm thinking of relocating there too.
