hi karen!!!!

Hey Adrienne :chuckle

Hi and congratulations Charlottesville is great did a contract there many years ago and loved it . As for the job situation here, Athens has a wonderful hospital; with excellent orientaiton programs for new graduates, six months of intensive classes actual hands on clinical with the same preceptor on all of the units you can contact the HR department for information via internet Athens Regional Medical Center 1199 Prince Avenue Athens Georgia

Climate is nice cost of living is not bad, University of Georgia location lots of night life great location. Another is Savannah Ga St Joseph Candler system, a magnet hospital and very progressive they have internet links as well

Athens is about an hour north east of Atlanta close enough for braves games and shopping trips

good luck salaries between 18 and 19 to start

Hi guys,

I'm a 4th year BSN student at the University of Virginia and I'm planning to move to ATL in June.

I just stumbled upon this forum while looking for info on Grady...boy am I glad I found you! I had heard that Grady wasn't the best, but was gonna give it a try. I think I've changed my mind!!!

But, is Northside really a good place to work. I spoke to someone in human resources and had a VERY bad experience...they were rude and not very knowledeable about their own programs. What's worse? Their orientation for new grad nurses consists of only 3 days. Ummm? Can we say dangerous? If anyone out there has better info, please let me know. I'd hate to scratch them off my list if it truly is a good place to work.

Thanks!!

Athens Regional Medical Center pays new grads $18.50/hr to start. It is a wonderful hospital. My guess is that you would get paid a little better at Northside since it is in Atlanta.

Hi! I, too, will be a new grad in a matter of weeks and I am moving to Cumming, GA, in June. I had a wonderful experience with the recruiter I spoke to at Northside. She told me that the training was 12 weeks. I am going into probably neuro or PACU. It is longer if you go into critical care. She told me that I would have to train at the main hospital (next to St. Joseph's) and then if I wanted to transfer to one of the satellite hospitals I could do so after a year! If you need any further info, just email me.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the great info about Northside. I actually just came back from ATL for interviews during spring break and interviewed with Northside. They actually do have the highest starting pay in the area for new grads (19.80/hr) and the interview went really well. It's a great place and I'm looking forward to hearing back from them. Take care!

Hello all,

I think I will be moving to Atlanta (from Washington D.C.) after I graduate with my BSN this May. Which hospitals in Atlanta would you recommend as having a good preceptor/new grad program? I'm considering the areas of Med Surg, O.R. and spinal cord /neuro. Sorry, I like them all.

I'm not big on commute time so something inside the city would be preferable. Which hospitals do you feel truly value their nurses? Do the hospitals you recommend actively promote (corporate ladder) their nurses? What are the patients ratios like? Are they technologically oriented? Are they ethnically diverse in terms of staff and clients? Pay is important, but teamwork means much more on my list :p

Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks

I am happy to see so many nurses coming to GA. I have to put WellStar's name out there to say that we have a good preceptor program and starting pay is what you guys have been tossing around. We also have great shift and weekend diffs. Please take time to look us up at http://www.wellstar.org or if you are in the West Atlanta area and are looking for a job as RN, LPN, or CNA call us at 770-445-4411 and ask for staffing. Good Luck and Happy Healing!

First time post for me here. I was born and have lived in and around Atlanta my whole life. Have been a registered nurse for 24 years.:nurse: I currently work at North Fulton Regional Hospital, just north of Atlanta in Roswell. It is a major trauma center for this area, but a small enough hospital that it has a family feel about it. The pay scale here was recently adjusted to match the pay of hospitals in Atlanta. The nurses here on the medical floor work as a team, and are always asking each other if they can help with something. I have been here 13 years and will stay here until I retire. so....ya'll come check us out !!!

would like to hear from any nurses who commute to Atlanta. I live in Macon and a co-worker and I have been throughing the idea around. Would like to stay of the southside if possible, but I do understand that alot of the hospitals have a commuter program. :balloons:

I will be moving to the Atlanta area soon. Probably somewhere around McDonough or Stockbridge. Does anyone know anything about these areas? I know nothing about Atlanta. Is there a hospital near McDonough or Stockbridge that I could work in? I am an RN with ER experience. If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Patricia :p
