  1. Looking to see if there are any Nurses working for Wellcare recently. I have spoken with someone in reference to a Field Coordinator Position for OB
  2. I have put in for several positions and receive the automated letter that my resume is being reviewed, and then like the next day I get a letter thanking me for my interest, but the position has been filled. Makes me think they are filling the positions before they post them.
  3. I did get a job off a craigslist. I am working as a Utilization Manager for a contractor at the Air Force Base. I have to admit, I was skeptical myself but everything panned out and it was legit.
  4. I recently underwent a similiar situation and it has left me full of doubt in my nursing career. Just like the staging of dying, you go through these same stages when you loose your job. I felt so betrayed and unappreciated. I am at the angry stage and have really had to do alot of praying and soul searching. I am also struggle to get that that confidence back, it was like being sucker punched in the stomach and having all the air knocked out of you. I was not happy and should have made a change along time ago and know it is a blessing in disguise but I can't help to resent how management handle the situation.
  5. The enviroment is really important, remeber misery loves company. I would have to choose the perfect enviroment. I work with a miserable doctor and now some of the other staff is unhappy and it can be TOXIC! I don't like who I have become and my attitude and disposition has changed drastically in the 2 years I have been here. I feel like I am on a sinking ship.
  6. Ga Sourthern in Statesboro has a great progam- this was my first semester and I really enjoyed it. Pretty much everything is online but you do have to go to campus for your final and a presentation.Check it out
  7. I graduated from Gordan in 1994, they had an excellant program and great instuctors. They really wanted their students to succeed. I know several LPNS who are going back there for the bridge program and have been real satisified. If you can get your RN now- do it- I see many nurses who are LPN's and are stuggling to work full time and go back to school to get their RN degree.
  8. Familiarity breeds contentment- its easy to stay and do what you know but think of all the new experiences you might miss if you pass up the other. Do what "YOU" feel you will be the happiest with. Sometimes you really don't know the best choice until you made the wrong choice- but thats ok because its all a learning experience. Its always difficult to make a change and go on to something unfamiliar but remain positive and give your all.amy
  9. Depending on the clinical setting you work in, weekends are a real possiblity. However, alot of places uses self scheduling so you can actually pick and choose when you want to work. Many nurses like weekend work because of the premium pay and there is less administration to deal with. You always can work in a doctors office or an ambulatory clinic which will leave your weekends free. Its a toss up m-f 8-5 or three 12 hr shifts w/weekends. You will find what works for you and your family and you will make sacrifices with your career along the way but don't panic it all works out in the end...Amy
  10. He may want to try Health South Rehab hospital. They always need good, strong men to assist w/ ortho and stroke patients. They are on Northside dr in Macon- 55 bed facility.
  11. I recently took a position at a Gyn/Oncology office. I will be assisting in the office with patients, scheduling surgeries and a large part of my time will be doing research. I have been at the office for 1 week but it feels like 1 year...The research part really interests me and I am excited about getting into that aspect of the job. I have done nursing in an office setting for many years so the other part of the job is familiar to me. The problem I am having is the staff- the office staff consist of probaly 4 employees and they have not been the most welcoming bunch. They answer my questions but they don't go out of their way to really help me- they give me as little information as possible and no more. The girl training me is most helpful but thats who I will replace. I just can't get a feel for it- I am not sure if I am treading on someone elses territory or maybe the want to see me fall on my face. I am very easy going and get along with my peers and Im not usually overly sensitive. I guess I feel really out of place and I feel like I am not connectiing with the staff ??? It makes for a tense situation, at least for me it does.Any input is welcomed....Thanks
  12. My first job out of nursing school was for Ob/gyn group. This was in 1994 when there actually was an abundance of nurses. I applied through a hospital and my application was referred to a local office manager. I was so green and it was a great start for me, however, later I did go back into a hospital and gained alot of skills I had never really developed. 11 years later I am leaving the hospital to go back into an office setting. The 8-5 m-f no holidays and weekends is what appeals to me. I will contiue to work prn in the hospital to keep my skills up. Go for it- it is a great oppurtunity. Do a little foot work, get on the phone and call around and see if they are looking for any nurses- some advertise in the paper but mostly word of mouth. Good Luck..amy
  13. I work in a rehab hospital ( strokes, TBI, and ortho pts) and we generally have between 6-8 pts per nurse with one tech. Night shift has 8-12 pt ratio.
  14. It can be quite challenging working shift work. When I first came out of school, my husband worked night shift so that was'nt a option for me with a little one at home. I went to work for a doctors office because of the hours of operation, 8-5 no weekends or holidays. I did make less than what a hospital nurse made but it worked for me and my family.
  15. Thanks alot for the info. I currently work full time at a rehab hospital and feel like I need a change. Plus running up and down the halls is killing my feet and legs. I make right at 23.00 per hr now and did want to take a huge cut in pay. From others I have talked to it, the pay per visits is about right. They pay 20.00 for inservice and education also, they do have a 3,000 sign on bonus with a commitment of a year. I really think I would love the flexiblity and freeing up some of my weekends and I will probaly contiue to work prn at the hospital.. Change is sometimes scarey but I think the time has comes. thanks :balloons:
