we voted today.
the labor party has won the federal election here in australia.
kevin rudd is the new prime minister of australia.
let's hope he honours his pledges to the people of australia!
kevin rudd ..........you said you'd withdraw our troops if you won government.
i'm holding you to that commitment!
I hope your labour government is better than ours. Rudd wants to get rid of our queen from your country.
Actually, the last time the referendum was on for a republic, the Queen was actually interested in getting rid of us. They had a special on the selling of the QEII and the Queens last voyage... this is when she said it, on that programme.
Australia so desperately needed a change of government.
I pray the new Prime Minister holds true to his word. I always get nervous when there is a change though.
Australian's let us all rejoice
For we are young and free!! :)
Oh dear that made me cry. I miss the Australian smells whaaaaaaaaaaa, noises, beaches etc but love it here!!
Talk about torn :uhoh21:
We should market a perfume: "Australia in a bottle" :)
My post about the flags was for Grace, who was concerned that there were no flags behind Mr Rudd during his acceptance speech.
I, too, wait and watch. And hope - not that having a Labor state government helpd at all during our industrial action. And though some people (not here) have suggested to me that it was part of a country-wide 'look at the effect of WorkChoices of the people' directive, there was no WorkChoice legislation three years ago and we had to fight then, too.
Rant over!

Rant allowed! Good point. Victorian nurses went through hell under a Labor govt. Made international headlines I think. And while we never went to WorkChoices up here, and we certainly didn't get taken to the highest court in the land, we too did have to fight under a Labor govt. Thats what I mean about not trusting either side... :)
