Austin Community College - ACC - Spring '11 hopefuls

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi ya'll-

Thought I'd get this started for the rest of us who, sadly, did not make it in for Fall 2010. I'm hoping to re-submit my application for Spring today (or this week). Does anyone know, do we receive the form from the nursing office? Or, is this something we should grab from the website?

My score upon re-applying will be 54.899. Dang, sure am hoping this will be high enough and get me in this round!

How's everyone else holding up? Did everyone complete the pre-req - 1105 already? I have not and won't (due to extenuating circumstances) until early Fall. Will this negatively impact my chances of getting accepted? According to Tammy and the office, no. But, wanting to get everyone's input. Hoping we will hear about acceptance by Sept. Does anyone know this date for sure? The application period closed July 15, don't know why it takes them so long to get this word out.

Anyway- good luck to you. This is my 3rd round of applying :( so I sure am ready to get in and get on with this career change!

Jackfackmasta and texasceleste,

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it! My availability is for the weekends since I'll be tied up with school on the weekdays next semester. Hopefully I'll be able to volunteer for a nursing unit, ER or ICU. Oh, I can't wait to be in your shoes....going to nursing school. :nurse: ...It's just a year away.

Have any of my fellow hybrids turned in their packets to the Round Rock campus yet?? I am getting off an hour early from work today to drive up and turn it in. I was wondering if it was easy to find. I also need to see if I can go ahead and get a parking permit while I am there. I'd hate to wait until the first week of classes in January.

I'm not in the nursing program...yet...but I do attend Anatomy at Round Rock. I also attended a nursing info session there a few weeks ago and I believe the nursing department is in the same location that I took my nursing info session. It's in bldg 3000 on the second floor. The campus isn't too hard to find and is right next to Texas State San Marcos. I take the main road (University Blvd) to access the campus. Also there are "street signs" that direct you to the building numbers (1000, 2000, 3000, etc.). Hope this helps!

I AM IN! (my rank was 161) Got my acceptance letter today. CEC for me! :yeah: I am sooooo happy! They are giving me until DEC 15 to get the Checklist done.

Congrats LiliValley...I'm also at CEC.

I know this is totally off subject but can anyone recommend a great pharmacology prof? I've read a lot of great reviews on this site as well as ratemyprof.com on a particular prof who teaches in class and online and wanted to know if it would be harder taking this class online? I would really love to take her in person but don't want to make the drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! I found it fine. It helped that there was hardly anybody on campus at the time I went but it was really easy to find and I can relax now that I have my clinical clearance ticket. :yeah:

I took it with the professor whose name is something you drink out of. I know we can't name specific names on here so hopefully that is hint enough. I took her onsite class at Eastview and it really wasn't necessary. A friend of mine took her online and the only difference was the online classes didn't have to do the drug profiles assignment. Her notes are excellent and her test reviews are great!

I took her online class and its not hard it all. Her notes are great!!!The only difference is that the online class doesn't have to do drug profiles!!

Thanks RadiationRN2Be! I know exactly who you're talking about :D I've wanted to take this prof but wasn't sure if it was a wise choice to take this class online.

How'd you like the Round Rock campus? When I took my nursing info session there we were able to see the mock hospital room with all the hospital beds and expensive human mannequin type models (I don't want to call them dummies) but hopefully you know what I'm talking about. I believe Tammie was the lady who was hosting the info session. She said they even have some models that sweat, bleed, shake, give birth, you name it they can do it. I was so amazed at it all. I really can't wait to go to nursing school! Just have to get the last set of my pre-reqs and co-reqs out of the way this spring and I'm set.

Thanks again for the help!

Thanks RNwanttobe! I'm definitely going to take her class. Problem is her classes are full :sniff: I guess I'll just keep checking the course schedule on line and hope that someone drops or just wait for the add/drop times during the first week of school.

So according to the email there are about 120 students attending the Jump Start session on December 7th. I'm going to be there. How many others on here are going?
