Austin Community College - ACC - Spring '11 hopefuls

Published

Hi ya'll-

Thought I'd get this started for the rest of us who, sadly, did not make it in for Fall 2010. I'm hoping to re-submit my application for Spring today (or this week). Does anyone know, do we receive the form from the nursing office? Or, is this something we should grab from the website?

My score upon re-applying will be 54.899. Dang, sure am hoping this will be high enough and get me in this round!

How's everyone else holding up? Did everyone complete the pre-req - 1105 already? I have not and won't (due to extenuating circumstances) until early Fall. Will this negatively impact my chances of getting accepted? According to Tammy and the office, no. But, wanting to get everyone's input. Hoping we will hear about acceptance by Sept. Does anyone know this date for sure? The application period closed July 15, don't know why it takes them so long to get this word out.

Anyway- good luck to you. This is my 3rd round of applying :( so I sure am ready to get in and get on with this career change!

Colleen

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted:) Sadly, I have not yet. Just curious if anyone know what number they are up too? I don't think I have a chance but I am still hopeful.

Hey all. I've been in a daze for a while, but I wanted to say that I was sent an acceptance letter on Wednesday morning. I was number 158 on the list. I thought it wasn't going to happen, so I'm amazed and thankful for the opportunity. Now, there is a lot to do before the first of December.

Congrats to you:D

Was this you 1st or 2nd time to apply?

Thanks Madterriers for the info, just got mine back yesterday. Now just waiting to get the clear from ACC to register. Anyone have any ideas how long that took? I am ready to make it official!

Congrats Crispier!

Any News LiliValley? Don't give up hope. I heard last year, that some people were still getting in at the last minute in December!

No news yet. thanks for asking. Interesting info: one of my nursking skills classmates is interviewing with Texas Tech in a week and if she gets accepted (good chance since this is her 2nd time, has a 3.8 and CNA exp), she will give up her ACC spot. Can't help but wonder if this scenario exists with other people and if this will be my way in??

still hoping. Will keep y'all posted!

I know there are other threads about this but wanted some feedback specifically from other ACC ADN students. What stethoscope is everyone getting? Has anybody heard pros/cons for specific equipment? Make and model, if possible, please...I think I'm pretty set on a Littman but not sure what model.

I've had the Littman Master Classic II for about 3 years now and I love it!! The oncologist I work for has had his for years and he said his got him through medical school and he still uses it. I think they run for about $100 and when I ordered mine they offered free engraving. I got it on medisave.net. They still offer free engraving.

Thanks for the info. What length of tube do you have?

Uhhhhh I don't know. I just got it online, I didn't know they came in different lengths. Check them out online, it is a great site for medical supplies!

Who here is going to be in the EVC class? I just switched from hybrid to Eastview because I'm concerned about the health of my 8 year old car. I can take the bus to EVC if I need to (and have husband or dad drop me at clinicals) but I was getting really worried about trying to figure out the commute to Round Rock daily or weekly. I'm curious who my classmates will be--let me know if you're going to be at the EVC!:D

So, who thinks the textbook list is the same as it was for Fall 2010? I'm ready to get my books!!
