Austin Community College (ACC) - Fall 2010 Hopefuls

Published

I'm a Fall 2010 applicant at ACC and thought it would be nice for all the Fall 2010 hopefuls to have our own thread to share exciting news, information, and support with each other.

I turned in my application last Friday (Dec. 18th) after taking the HESI exam. I feel good about my scores but I anticipate competition for the Fall spots is going to be quite fierce. After that large applicant pool for Spring I think we will see a lot of re-applicants applying with the 5 extra re-application points. Not sure what that will mean for the ranking scores but it will be interesting to see . . .

Good luck to all the Fall 2010 applicants!

That's what I was thinking. So if you want hybrid and they are out of slots, do they send you an email saying "we have open slots for RRC or EVC, which do you want?" It would seem to me to save time by asking which of the 4 options would be your choice and to rank them. Can't get in option one, they at least know what you would want next and fit you in there.

Purkinje - I'll make ya a deal, if they put you and Round Rock and you don't want it....I'll take it!! haha! I wish it worked that way!

Sounds like they are going to try to give you your first choice, but after that they are just placing you were there are openings to save time. An email is coming after June 4 and "You will also be notified of your official placement for the options listed above (EVC, CEC, Hybrid, or RR)." it doesn't say anything in the email about another choice. Basically first come first serve, then we place you...

Anyone know how to delete a post?

I didn't realize that my last one posted 3 times! SORRY

I deleted the duplicate post for you. For future reference, registered members have up to one hour after creating a post/thread in which to edit or delete. After an hour has elapsed, you can contact a staff member to delete or edit your post.

For anyone who didn't get their first choice, they were given the option of their second choice.

You guys shouldn't take to heart most of the things that are posted on here because most of it isn't true and very misleading. Incorrect info is posted usually by the ones who have no clue of what is actually going on.

Go to the source before you listen to all the inaccurate rumors!

nursnginfo-we appreciate your valuable insight. can you tell us who or what is the best "source"?

as far as i can tell, most of the posts in this forum have been made by applicants undergoing this process for the first time, so inaccuracies should be expected. i think this forum was established, in part, to help us to communicate best practices for a successful entry into the adn rn program and to support each other in that endeavor. however, if we are perpetuating misleading information, can you specify what is false and help us to correct it?

from my perspective, the application process of the acc adn rn program is formidable and raises many questions which are not easily addressed. it is not my intention to imply that the adn program is at fault; i have nothing but the utmost respect for the adn staff and i believe every effort has been made for transparency and clarity. however, in my opinion, this forum has served no small part in our ability to communicate with each other and stay informed. for you to state, categorically, that most of the information contained in this forum is untrue or very misleading is critical and not all helpful.

respectfully,

ss

Speaking for myself - I never expected this thread to be 100% accurate - I expected it to be a forum for all of us "wannabe" nurses to share our fears, expectations, experiences, and anything else - including what we've heard

"on the grapevine". I have found this thread to be just that - and I appreciate all of the people who have taken time to share - whether they were accurate or not - they shared - what they felt, thought, and heard - and I value their willingness to share.

So thank you all for sharing so willingly :-)

People who are on this forum are students waiting to get in and are trying to get some insight from others and current/former students in this program. When someone posts something it may not be 100% right but again many other people may be thinking the same way. It is a forum not a scientific paper. I've learned a lot of stuff on this forum that the program does not release. We all have a right to freedom of speech and if someone asks or responds to something we must all be open to that person. If something is wrong, people can correct but there is no reason to tell people what they should do or not do. We try to provide the most correct information that we know and not purposely provide false information. You're the only person complaining about it. So leave. This forum is a positive and supporting one and it provides students with a way of getting through the waiting period by connecting with other students. Please accept this forum for what it is. I have nothing else to say.:D

I was hoping we would receive our next email today, but it's getting late. After I requested CEC, they wrote back saying: Great, you will receive more info on 6/4 regarding fall.

Has anyone heard back about their placements and next steps?

My email said we'd hear on 6/4, too; I've been on pins and needles all day. But you're right, it's getting pretty late ...

i haven't either and i requested cec

I looked back at my email and they said they would send more info after 6/4. I was hoping we would get something on 6/4 but it doesn't look like it. Hopefully something will come early next week.
