Austin Community College (ACC) - Fall 2010 Hopefuls

Published

I'm a Fall 2010 applicant at ACC and thought it would be nice for all the Fall 2010 hopefuls to have our own thread to share exciting news, information, and support with each other.

I turned in my application last Friday (Dec. 18th) after taking the HESI exam. I feel good about my scores but I anticipate competition for the Fall spots is going to be quite fierce. After that large applicant pool for Spring I think we will see a lot of re-applicants applying with the 5 extra re-application points. Not sure what that will mean for the ranking scores but it will be interesting to see . . .

Good luck to all the Fall 2010 applicants!

I haven't heard yet either - just checked my email again. My "provisional" email acceptance letter also said "after" June 4th - so maybe we'll all hear on Monday.

For those friends still waiting:

I have a rank of 52.0 and was #165 on the list. I found out Wednesday that I was accepted, so they are still dropping the list down to let people in for the fall. There is still hope!

This could also be the reason no email with the information for registration has been sent-- it's possible they want to have a full class before starting the process.

Additionally, in my acceptance letter there was more information on the campuses: It seems Round Rock is full (but the hybrid is not) and EVC is almost full. This was as of June 2.

Specializes in Adult ICU.

Is CEC is full? Was their any info on that?

asteinhouser - congratulations on your acceptance!! And thanks so much for that additional info. I hope that since they said hybrid isn't full, that means that those of us who requested it already will get it ...

What did you request?

I requested CEC and was told that is where I will be placed, so anyone who got in on the first round and requested the CEC surely got it.

A request to any former/current nursing students:

As we are not allowed to post information about faculty on this forum, could y'all please post some reviews on ratemyprofessor.com of the teachers in the nursing program? As we start registering and so forth it would be helpful to have some background knowledge of the professors. Thank you!

asteinhauser- I can tell you that I just finished level 1 hybrid, and really loved the instructors. You cant really go wrong with any of them--I cant say names, but I can say that if you chose hybrid, you will get to chose your hospital (not sure if thats how EVC or CEC work) and the instructors at NAMC are amazing! Wish I could have them every year. Good Luck! :yeah:

@asteinhauser - that's great info. thank you! Did they give you more info about getting a physical and background check?

Thanks for the insight @asteinhauser and @kann23! I went and got my physical last Friday. They have a form available on the program requirements page of the nursing website for the physical.

I haven't heard anything back from them about placement yet, but I have read that the criminal background check must be completed before they'll allow you to register.

My fingers are crossed for the CEC...but it looks like I probably got in if they're still accepting people for that campus. :)

Good luck all!

@Secular Sexton- Did you do the TB testing with the physical or go somewhere else? (or maybe you have had on recently) I was just wondering if it is something we can ask for during our physical. I have mine this week. thanks

@irishclover-I had a TB test last December, and then again in March, for Seton, so I didn't need one. However, my doctor did offer to do one before she realized it wasn't necessary. I would ask the nurse about it when you get there, I'm sure they'll acommodate you.
