Austin Community College (ACC) - Fall 2010 Hopefuls

Published

I'm a Fall 2010 applicant at ACC and thought it would be nice for all the Fall 2010 hopefuls to have our own thread to share exciting news, information, and support with each other.

I turned in my application last Friday (Dec. 18th) after taking the HESI exam. I feel good about my scores but I anticipate competition for the Fall spots is going to be quite fierce. After that large applicant pool for Spring I think we will see a lot of re-applicants applying with the 5 extra re-application points. Not sure what that will mean for the ranking scores but it will be interesting to see . . .

Good luck to all the Fall 2010 applicants!

I set up a quick and dirty Google group under a personal Gmail -- if people want to PM me their email address, I can add everyone to it. I added myself as a subscriber using my ACC Gmail account and it seemed to work.

Thanks for setting this up. Now I just need to post 5 more times (I think) to get my PM working.

Purkinje - Thanks for setting up the email group. I sent you my address via PM.

My fingers (and toes) are crossed for Hybrid.

I'm a Southie too and although I don't mind a little commute, having a few less days of it every week is a big plus!

Woo-Hoo! I made it in :) Congratulations to all of you who made it in, too. :w00t::w00t::w00t:

I'd like to join the email list/group, but I can't figure out how to send a PM to you, Purkinje. Would you be able to send me a message with the group information so I can join? THANKS.

I am planning on taking my classes at EVC. (I think I'm the only one!!!) Getting together for lab practice sounds like a great idea, especially since we'll have check-offs pretty much right away. Do they have open lab at the RR campus? I'm exactly in-between RR & EVC so I could go to either one.

OMG, now we're officially "nursing students!" How cool!

Yay, NerdGirl!! I sent you an email. I don't know if the RR campus will be open over the summer for labs, but EVC surely will be. I think getting together to practice in the lab is a fantastic idea.

Would anyone else be interested in a get-to-know-you lunch/happy hour/dinner at some point, maybe in June?

The benefit of schlepping to RR -- it gives me an excuse to go to the nicer Gold's locations up north (usually I work out at the downtown location, which is essentially a basement!).

Hi guys! I'm new to this. I wanted to join and hopefully get to know some of you. Congratulations to those who got in for the Fall. I was accepted and requested CEC. Can't wait to get started!

If you go to the nursing home page and click on student resources then scroll down to Nursing skills lab: Open practice lab hours and then click on the lab calendar link there is a calendar. It seems as the EVC is the one that's open all summer. I'm taking nursing skills in June and there are also 4 nursing skills classes this summer so you would need to look at the calendar to avoid those hours. I doubt RR would be open because of construction and im sure they want a fancy nursing school opening for it. They said CEC is for those students only so i'll be using EVC to stay sharp after my class.

Congratulations irishclover! I also requested CEC so maybe will be in the same class.

Count me in for a get-to-know you thing...Good idea Purkinje. It will be nice to meet everyone before school starts. I took nursing skills last year so all my nursing skills classmates that I kept in touch with have already started the program.

I wonder if Friday is a good day to go to open lab. Does anyone know if it gets real busy? I wish they were open later in the day or on weekends.

Purkinje, I'll be PM'ng you my email address as soon as I get my 5 posts. Thanks for taking the initiative.

...and that makes 5. Am I official now? I don't feel any different. ;)

in order to send a private message, do we have to post so many times?
