I recently got accepted to Trinitas for this fall semester (Hurray!!! ) and I need some advise. I need to know how hard is NURE 130 because the councelors have TOTALLY discouraged me and rocked my faith in myself. I have a full course load: CHE 113 w/lab, BIO 105 w/lab, and ENG 101. When I registed, one of the councelors said, that she would "BET" money on me failing (THAT IS A DIRECT QUOTE)!!!!! I went into registarion confident but came out scared to death. What exactly am I getting myself into?!?!?
I agree with the above poster. Trinitas has a rigorous program, but once you've graduated you KNOW your stuff and you have good confidence in yourself as you transition into an RN. When i attended the Rutgers NCLEX review, i was shocked that an RU nursing graduate couldnt even identify the correct anatomy of the heart. I've met some nurses who also teach at other schools, and they're amazed how knowledgeable Trinitas students are. BUT be prepared of the level of difficulty of the program. It really doesn't matter if you were the smartest in your high school or you received straight A's in college prior to nursing, it really is completely different. Really only the strong & determined survive. :nuke:
Thanks RJMJ87!!!!! OMG!!!! That was real helpful!!! My overall GPA is high as well so I thought I would have an advantage...but to kiss the grades good bye is a big swallow sheesh....I do got my hands full!!! Well I guess if I finish all my courses from Spring to Summer I & II, I should be in good shape
But at this point as long as I pass with decent grades...that's all that I can hope for...thanks again for the info
Thanks Propranolo!
Sheesh...well I want to this SOOOO bad and I guess I was a bit delusional about acing these classes :uhoh21: I knew it was going to be hard just but stats' alone but I know what I can do to assure that I will pass. Me and my sister will be in the program together, so I guess that will be support for studying, etc. So when does clinical start? And what exactly goes on during clinical; from what I read it's had to do with simulation and learing lab?
Good luck to you Bunny326 and career12. Your clinicals start at NURE131. This is when you provide patient care to a patient under the supervision of your instructor, which is really nerve-wrecking and intimidating by the way. Yes, you will have simulations, usually near the end of the semester. This is when you are given a scenario that you would most likely not see during your clinicals on a mannequin (Sim-Man). The learning(skills) lab is where you practice and get tested off on your skills. BTW, if you have at least a 3.0 and have not failed a nursing course prior to your last 2 semesters, you can receive a full scholarship for your last 2 semesters. that's if you maintain that before your last semester also. =)
Thank you Bunny326 and RJMJ87. I think that I'll give it a shot and pray that it all works out. It's really encouraging Bunny326 to hear that your sister just transfered and already got in. RJMJ87 it's great having you here to give us the in's and out's of the program. I'll keep you guys posted on how everything goes. Thank you guys.
I am a transfer student and I just reg for chemistry and child psych with two by back classes. Ucc accepted about 22 credit from me and i am thankfull. However, i was told that u needed an personal invitation to enter Nur 130. Do anyone know if it's possiable u can get an invitation while your finishing your pre-req. Also, I would like to know is there's anyone that have the same situtaion like me. Waiting for SPring 2008:yeah::icon_roll
I'm a bit nerves entering the Nursing Program and hope I do well. I left a school that was somewhat worse than Ucc and thought i would be running from the problem. But, i realize reguardless where u go the situation seems to be the same. I just want to know does the entire program make u feel as if nursing isn't for you and lack students with the support they need to move on?

hi,
i'm going into 232 this fall. its a very difficult program. its different from "normal college." It almost feels like everyman for them self. try to hook up with a solid study group or least people you can talk to about material when you have questions. the professors will most likely tell you to read the book if you have questions. All the material will be from the book, dont bother reading other sources. i have one piece of advice, read the material outline. dont read unnecessary material, just follow the outline.
Finish all your preq's before you start clinicals. i know a person who had to stop at 132 because they couldn't pass microbiology, which you need to go on to the next course. also, i dont think past experience means anything. Maybe with personal interaction with the patient, but thats about it. you need to learn it there way, cause thats what will be on the exams. not what you thought you learned while an aide or whatever. never talk back to the professor or question them in front of other faculty or students.:argue: just bite your tongue. trust me on this. don't get discouraged by things you see or bad exams, just keep on going. i truly wish you the best of luck if you decide to go. i've had a great experience, but stress too. the graduates say its worth it, i believe it. good luck! oh yeah, did i mention read the book?!
