I think Mark had the right idea:
"i just made it perfectly clear to him that i was here to learn but not to be indoctrinated to his views! i ended up filling a complaint with the dean of the nursing program and the president. they reprimanded him...i am fine with some one sharing opinions but i will not tolerate instructors trying to change my beliefs."
You are PAYING for an education!
You have a right to be educated!
He has no more right to slam Christian beliefs from the podium than he would to make sexist remarks or racial slurs...do NOT tolerate it!
Similarly, Christians and other zealous folks should be appropriate in what venues religious beliefs are discussed...and should be done so without being derogatory.
My friends and peers at work discuss religion and politics at work all the time...the rule is just to present YOUR opinion and LISTEN to others...no tearing down of anothers' views!
Please, don't let professors in education get away with poor behavior! We are expecting professionalism from you when you graduate...likewise you should expect it from your teachers!
