Atheist Professers

 Hi everyone! I'm kind of new here, and I have a question: Right now I'm in A&P and my professor is an all out atheist. I realized when I decided to go the nursing route I would encounter many scientific minds, but whew! How do you fellow believers keep this from getting to you? Just a little friendly conversation starter, not trying to start a creation vs evolution debate. Hope to hear from yall!

I am a conservative but am against anyone forcing their religious beliefs on someone or ridiculing another person's beliefs. I don't understand why an A & P classes needs to focus on religion - it sounds like the professor has problem.

Both the far right and far left need to get a grip.

I don't believe our military deliberately bombed civilian targets - during the gulf war the military took increased risks to avoid targeting civilian areas. Unfortunately, none of the bombs or intel is 100% accurate. It wasn't in WW I, WWII, Korea, VietNam, or the Gulf War. Innocent men, women and children will die - that is a sad tragic part of war - it has happened ever since war began.

The Taliban and BinLaden deliberately sought out to kill as many civilians as possible - this type of evil must be confronted and unfortunately more innocent lives have been lost in the process. I don't believe my government or the military celebrate the loss of these civilians.

I have no problem with your stating your opinion, but THIS:

PuppyLuv said:

We can't bomb certain places because of "innocent" civilians, but we can send FOOD PACKAGES?!!

doesn't make one lick of sense, especially when juxtaposed against THIS statement:
I respect all life
Um, what?

Bri--you are crackin' my sh*t up! :D

...and with the osama issue, liberals have a lot to do with having not caught him yet. we can't bomb certain places because of "innocent" civilians, but we can send food packages?!! bush was pushed to do that from pressure by liberals. nuff said.

good lord, what have you been smokin'? did you ever consider that the conservatives may have got us in this mess to begin with? since when are you in a position to point fingers?

suggestion: re-word the above as such:

" and with the osama issue, i feel liberals have a lot to do with having not caught him yet....i believe (perhaps from my crack smoking) that bush was pushed to do that from pressure by liberals..."

there. now you don't sound like a ranting lunatic with no solid facts from reliable web sources to back up your statements. :D

Hmmm. I tell you I don't like certain things, and you call me a crackhead? Grow up, LasVegasRN person.

PUPPYLUV you lie. I just got back from the courthouse and they inform that gay marriage is still not legal. and I was all set to register at Saks!! Thanks for getting my hopes up.

I'll go back to leading a life of shame and secrecy where I belong.

Bri

Hawaii DID legalize gay unions to have the same rights as married couples in their state. Got your plane ticket yet??? :lol2:

Hi Ker-Ker.. how is your A&P class going? I think that schools are responsible for the instructors that they hire. As with any school system it should be up to that nursing school/college system/administration to address complaints of any kind that students have with faculty.. etc.. as well as vice versa.

In response to your above question, the best way that has worked for me in dealing with professors who are atheists is to let them be them...and they let me be me. :kiss Now...wasn't that easy? :)

Thanks for "illustrating" my "point" so "beautifully."

Peeps,

Stargazer said it well. You are intelligent and literate enough to know when you are being condescending and derogatory. Like you need a detailed explanation. Shesh.

Renee:

The thing about Hawaii is... its only recognized in Hawaii. I'm afraid its not going to do us any good until its recognized across the board. So... lots of silly couples bought expensive tickets to go to Hawaii and found that it amounted to a big heap of nothing once they returned to their home state.

Its just not compatible with my life to move to Hawaii.

And I am diametrically opposed to the idea that in order to have any equality, all homosexual people have to relocate atop a volcano.

Tell me you aren't serious, because you are seriously scaring me!! Your ranting is scattered, inflammatory and shows absolutely no insight on the issues you are trying to "debate". Intelligently voicing opinions are fine; your demeaning statements on things you don't agree with is just plain hateful. Maybe you SHOULD go smoke a fat one. Couldn't hurt! Vegas is a very wise and intellectually sound person. Listen and learn. Your telling her to "grow up" makes you look even more foolish.
