Atheist Professers

Nursing Students General Students

 Hi everyone! I'm kind of new here, and I have a question: Right now I'm in A&P and my professor is an all out atheist. I realized when I decided to go the nursing route I would encounter many scientific minds, but whew! How do you fellow believers keep this from getting to you? Just a little friendly conversation starter, not trying to start a creation vs evolution debate. Hope to hear from yall!

Mmm margarita. Maybe the tequila people will drop some margarita mix on my porch. "Good news from Jose Cuervo!"

Love you all, even the confused and pushy...

Seriously close to peeing my pants Brian! :rotfl: I should just get up & go instead of trying to read it all...one of these days I won't make it...

Hmmm, I sure missed a lot on this one the past couple of days...I sure enjoy your words Renee...I'm a Christian too, but not a "denominational" one  I'm actually attempting to find a church I enjoy near my new house, because I'd like to meet other solid friends, and at my age the only place anyone wants to get together is a bar

But I guess I've never felt it my place to be preachy my life isn't a model...I'm definately still a work in progress with no completion in site, but I won't hesitate to give thanks to God for the good in my life & share that with others...and I can proudly say "I'M NOT PUSHY!"

Hope this thread stays open...I learn a lot from everyone, even in between the arguments ;) I guess I'm a moran...I never really thought of atheists as "believers" in anything...what do they believe in...anyway, I need to keep reading!

Geeesshh, now I've really gotta go

ahem. how do i know the generalized statement you made did not refer to me?

if you don't know whether it pertained to you, how would i and why did you reply? you made the reply to the word "generalized", did you not?

didn't it refer to atheists? yes, to those who are pushy atheists and only as a comparison to those who speak of pushy christians/believers.

didn't you say they were "pushy?" yes

didn't someone else say they were "confused little individuals?"i do recall reading the words, "confused little individuals", but without going back reading the posts, i don't know exactly who it was.

so you respect my beliefs, you just choose to place a label on them (and me)? yes, i do respect your beliefs. the label is place on those who are guilty.

am i pushy?heather, to be honest, pushy may not be the word; it is forthright and to the point, you are a kind, compassionate, beautiful lady, that has a great sense of humor, and loving mother who is very intelligent. you are very outspoken and so am i and i must add, very observant as i am too.

in the year and a half you have been here, have i ever pushed by beliefs on you? until this thread, had you any clue as to what my beliefs even were? my friend, you are correct. you have not push your beliefs on me and if you had not caused me to believe you are an atheists with comments to this thread, i would have thought you were a christian with an outspoken opinion and that's not neccessary a bad thing either.

no. one man who took things too far and attacks the pledge, that is what you're basing your opinion of atheists on? no, not at all. it was an example used and nothing more.

sure, we can debate, but please debate intelligently about the professor and the student. what was i incorrect on. please inform me of my ignorance.

when you resort to insulting someones beliefs and name calling, your argument deteriorates.how did i insult some one's belief if i only said that they were pushy?. no, i feel, and mind you if my argument deteriorates, it is because i am defending my beliefs and asking others to respect my opinions just as i should theirs. otherwise, i am lost.

and i'm sorry, but i only have pepsi. ;) thanks, heather, i am full. my sis gave me a bottle of coke.:kiss

Heather, here is my original post. Where in this post did I degrade anyone or not be intelligent about the man?

I am aware Renee can speak for herself and your post is indirectly for me.

Christians are so suppose to let their light shine. No, not compel or "push" but let our light of Jesus shine in us. This is done, one by not saying one word and another by saying a word.

Atheists do push their beliefs. Lets not forget the lastest one, the man who did not want his daughter to say "Under God"; this altered what we would like to say in a public arena that depicts what we strongly believe in.

Here... "atheists do push their beliefs."

And for clarification, who is "the man?" I don't recall making an argument about your intelligence about the man.

Somehow I feel you missed the point and that was non-belivers are pushy and thus was shown by the example of getting rid of "under God" in the pledge.

And here... "non-believers are pushy," and you cite your proof of this to be the Pledge man (what a name:) )

You could say, "Golly gee, in my experience, most of the atheists I've met are pushy people." To which I would have replied, "I'm so sorry that has been your experience. I too do not enjoy having another's beliefs pushed upon me. How unfortunate that a few bad apples can ruin the whole bunch."

But you did not say it that way. You said atheists are pushy.

To clarify, it was Debralynn that said atheists were confused little individuals.

When I spoke of throwing insults, I was referring to those that did. If you did not know that was in reference to you, why did you reply or become offended?

here... "atheists do push their beliefs." i still don't see how this is degrading? i do realize that some atheists should have been implied, but degrading, no way. it only becomes a fact when some atheists is stated.

I never said it was degrading. I never used that word. I said that you made a harsh generalization.

heather, i am not offended about any of this thread. i don't mind opinions, a debate or facts. it is pespi i don't like. but thanks for offering. :chuckle

Diet Coke with a twist of lime please.

Cheerful,

I have plenty of time to look at the internet Media that Heather has secretly and insidiousely spamed me with, because psychology is over..........................drumroll please.......................and I got an "A". I still have to take the Lifspan class which I despise with every fiber of my being.

Atheists,

You don't believe in anything, do you? How can you be "attacked for your beliefs"? I think you're getting that confused with feeling attacked for not having beliefs. I think that any little attempt of expression by any people of a certain belief, would make you feel attacked.

Christians,

Atheists do not believe in a God(invisible man) because it does not require the critical thinking involved in asking the question "where do we come from?". They don't care about an origin because it has to be reasoned from faith. They have no faith in anything other than they can see before them. You can not give someone faith. When somebody says "I don't believe in God" they are in denial that what you believe in even exists. Without a "burning bush" in thier lives they have only to wait for death for thier hypothesis to be qualified.......or not.

You must lead by your example and quit following atheists around with a spiritual leash like the Dept of Diety Dogcatcher.

One more thing.................When an professed atheist, such as the professor in the topic(remember him?) speaks out against a belief in God, are'nt they just seeking answers about God?

Put away the leashes.

What bothers the person that wants the Pledge of Allegience changed if they are truly an atheist? If they don't really believe in God, why would it bother them? I think that person has a need to try and put God farther out of the picture so they can not believe in God even more.......................;)

An old saying from my years in sales................"you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.................so you have to make them thirsty .
