Hello, everyone!
I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time.
I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year
.
Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat
What scores are you all applying with?
Yuck, now it says $7073 and if you add $750 to that, then you get $7823. I was wondering if I was getting some special discount at first :)
Here's the breakdown of charges due it shows me:
05/20/2010 AZ Student Assoc Fee Dynamic 2010 Summer 1.00 1.00
05/20/2010 FA Trust Fee DTPHX Dynamic 2010 Summer 14.00 15.00

05/20/2010 Special Class Fees (FG54908) 2010 Summer 81.00 7,073.00
Whoops... I can't post the professor's names, it violates the identifying information terms of services here.
Yeah, my finances are updated too: $7,823.00. Le sigh. I can't wait to find out whether or not I'm going to get anything from FAFSA... I hate having to wait knowing that $7823.00 is hanging over my head like that!!! haha. At least they prorated the fees, typically the technology fee is usually around $60.
hey guys! im in d8! airborne, looks like youre not alone afterall haha. i haven't had 320 added to my schedule yet either, i'm wondering why? hmmm......all this is so confusing! i'm still trying to figure out the books too, did they say when they would be available at the bookstore to pick up and pay for? anndddd....i wanted to let you guys in on a little secret not many people know about.....there's a discount store called suzie's deals they are a 5.99 and under store and they actually have dickies scrubs for $5.99 a piece. it's kind of a hit or miss with colors and sizes and sometimes you get really unlucky and they have nothing, but its worth a try if youre looking to save some money. so if you havent bought your scrub pants yet i found one white pair so far, still going to search for navy. hope this helps! and wow....tuition is going to put me in my grave!!! also has anyone figured out how to get the right program from elsevier if you don't buy the package. i found the books in that package for 420$ total on amazon and unfortunatly with how expensive everything is saving a little over 100$ is a huge deal for me but i don't want to go through a huge hassle getting that program not sure what im going to do yet.....
oh and can one of you already in the program tell me if you know when the logo on the scubs changed? i have a friend that graduated in december and her logos and polos are different. i just want to know if the group graduating this spring has the same logo as we do before i buy my scrubs because i want to see if i can buy them from anyone instead of spending so much money on new ones. but if they're different i might as well go buy them now and get it out of the way :/ thanks for your help!
here's a link of what ours look like this year....
Hi,
I'm actually the girl who asked about the book list. I'm in group D10.
So, I found out some more news today...
1. The downtown ASU bookstore told me that they'll have enough books for everyone. They said that they don't take pre-orders. You'll be able to purchase these books in early May.
2. Financial Aid has posted. Although my account originally said that $0.00, I clicked further and the amounts came up. So, I guess that the most ASU will allow for federal loans is $12,500 per academic year (Summer session 2010 = August 2009 through July 2010 FAFSA; the following Fall 2010, Spring 2011 and Summer 2011 sessions all fall under = August 2010 through summer through July 2011 FAFSA). If you qualify for other grants (which I don't because I already have a B.S. degree) then that might help to make up some of the difference. If you took out federal loans during the 2009 - 2010 year then the amount that you're eligible for will be proportionally decreased (even if it was at another school).
So, I'm being offered a total of less than $10,000 in federal loans... which is not so awesome considering that tuition is ~$8,000 and books/uniforms run at least another $1,000. So, I have less than $1,000 left to eat/live/travel, etc on for three months of the summer. Wow! In addition, I can only get a max of $12,500 in federal loans for Junior2, Senior1, and Senior 2 sessions. Not sure how that's gonna work out!!! (again, this doesn't include grant figures - for those who are eligible).
I have been told that it may be possible to apply for loans through banks (but I don't think they'd loan you anything unless you had collateral). So, if anyone has any ideas then please pass them on.
Anyway, I'm sure I'm totally over reacting and that things will work out but I am super freaked!
See ya! (hopefully! )
az applicant, if you have anyone that will cosign with you i got a 3,000$ loan through chase student loans a year or two ago. i have really good credit but they still wanted a co signer. the interets rate is actually wayyy cheaper than my federal stafford loans so im really happy i went through them. hopefully this is an option for you. i'm glad you mentioned the financial aide, mine is posted too. luckily it looks like i qualify for a $2,000 grant which is extremely helpful, but i'm still so shocked at how expensive tuition is i wasn't expecting anything close to this i hope everyone is voting in the election coming up! if enough people don't vote yes on prop 100 there will be another education tax and someone said that is what will make our tuition go up on may 7th if it does. so everybody vote!!!
andd.....about my post easrlier about suzie's deals before you all waste your time i called them and they said they're very low on scrubs but theyre talking about getting a shipment next week so don't even try to go look until next week and i would call first to see if they have any just in case.
2. financial aid has posted.
thank you!!! it hadn't posted yesterday for me, but it was posted this morning! i didn't get quite as much as i had hoped for, but i can't complain. a small grant and an unfortunately large subsidized loan will cover most of my tuition, minus $323.00. haha. unfortunately nothing else is covered, though.
hang in there. even though it's so expensive, just think about how much sooner we'll be out in the field and actually working compared to any other program. you can also try to talk to banner or hrsa (i think that's what it is called) and get tuition, books, scrubs, etc. covered through their scholarships. i'm sure you can find something. check into loans with sallie mae, they might be able to offer you more as well. i really hope you can find a way to help pay for everything; try not to freak out :) and that goes for everyone, too!!
i still don't have 320 added. for those of you who do, did you complete the drug test already and maybe that is why? i just did mine earlier today.
320 was posted for me, but i haven't taken the drug test yet. i'm taking it tomorrow morning, thank goodness they do appointments now... they're always packed!
oh and can one of you already in the program tell me if you know when the logo on the scubs changed? i have a friend that graduated in december and her logos and polos are different.
the logo has changed, but that seems to be okay! asu changed the name of the college from "college of nursing and healthcare innovation" to just simply "college of nursing and health innovation" when they merged the nutrition and wellness programs with nursing. however, apparel pro is still selling the "healthcare innovation" shirts even though we're technically "health innovation." they don't even have white polo's with the new logo (or at least not what i could find). so in all honesty, i'd ask your friend if you could buy their scrubs off of them and save yourself the money because they should work all the same! haha
:heartbeat
if enough people don't vote yes on prop 100 there will be another education tax and someone said that is what will make our tuition go up on may 7th if it does. so everybody vote!!!
wait, how would our tuition go up on may 7th due to prop 100 not passing? the election isn't even until the 18th! i'm confused...
Yeah, maybe that's what they were talking about when they mentioned that the tuition surcharge might go up in Fall. YIKES. I'm so sick of money and tuition and all kinds of fees and surcharges! :hdvwl: hahaha. It'll be nice to have a full-time, hopefully permanent job when this is all over with.

Mine says its $7,823....that is with all 5 classes...I wonder why yours is cheaper? Hopefully they made a mistake on ours and the actual amount would be what you have..lol :) it would save me a good $2,000 that I can use to pay for everything things else they are requiring.
Ps. I am in D4 with you PineappleCrush
! Has anyone ordered the book bundle online through the ASU bookstore yet? Does that include shipping or can you pick it up from the bookstore?
