Ok gang, now it's our turn to start sharing information, tips and score ranges for those applying to the ASU (Arizona State) upper division nursing program for the Fall 2010 semester.
With the new TEAS testing requirement, I'm not sure we can apply to our situation the historical score ranges from the past (when they had to take the NET) so let's all share information and support for those of us applying for advancement.
I took the TEAS today got an 85.3% composite score. Both the program and national percentile scores were 98%. I'm applying with a 4.0 GPA. If this was a NET score submission for the Spring 2010 semester, I'd be right on the bubble. I'm wondering how others are scoring on the TEAS and if anyone's heard of any nuances in the application of those scores to our overall advancement scores. I'm under the impression that the Program Percentile score is pretty important as it is the ranking within our program exclusively - does anyone know if that is correct or not?
I recall that there will be only 60 advanced into the upper division program this Fall so I know the competition is going to be stiff.
If anyone has any information regarding scoring, numbers applying, numbers to be advanced, etc, please share! It's a long way off until they let us know where we stand - It will be nice to have a forum where we can bounce off one another.
I just received my letter and can also confirm the cut off is 5.569. Congrats to those who made it and to those who didn't, keep trying, your time will come!:heartbeat
YAY! I got into the MAYO CLINIC! :) My score was 5.760 if that helps anyone determine their acceptance into the Mayo program! Again, just to reassure the cut off score is indeed 5.569! I can't wait to start the school year off with everyone! Good luck to those who are still awaiting their letters!
I would say just enjoy your family, friends, and summer. The biggest thing I would suggest is when you have access to blackboard review the syllabus. Get the due dates of all of your assignments and test and put them on a calendar before class starts. Again good job getting in .
I'm going downtown! Couldn't do the Mayo anyway. I need summers off! I doubt I would have made it anyway, but it works either way. Congratulation to everyone that made it! And good luck to Spring '10 prospective students!!!! Don't give up! You'll get in! Also, I appreciate everyone's support on this forum and I'm glad we were able to share our personal information. And for those of you who didn't, seriously, keep on trying. I had to try twice to get in, and I know several people who have had to try three or more times. It's totally worth it, though.
Anyhoo, definitely don't stress about prepping for classes. I was totally freaking out about reviewing A&P and Patho before I started and I really didn't need to at all.... You still need that information as a foundation, but what you learn in classes doesn't really relate. The professors don't randomly ask you what the names of all the muscles are in your arm or what bacteria causes peptic ulcers in the stomach. It's obviously very important that you have that foundation, but don't stress about knowing tons and tons of specifics for class. The professors are good at doing mini-reviews of important information for whatever module you're going over.
Definitely take the time to enjoy your family and friends now! You may not see much of them during school... lol! Not to scare you at all, it's just the truth. There is a LOT of stuff you have to do when classes start. I definitely recommend finding a way to stay on top of everything and keeping organized--it will save you from a lot of stress and worries.

I, too, am in the summer program with these guys and I want to say a big :ancong!: to ALL of you that got in! :hrns&wlcm: to the world of ASU Nursing Program :-)!! For those that didn't, press on! If this is what you really want, go for it! It is definitely worth every second and will all pay off once you get that big envelope in the mail!
I would definitely recommend on utilizing this forum to its fullest. We had a forum for our cycle and it truly helped with my sanity throughout this whole process...even until now. It really helps to have that support system which you will need in this type of program. I would also try to enjoy the time you have with your family and friends because truthfully, you will be asking yourself "where your life went" or "why can't there be more time in the day" with how busy you will get as soon as you start the program. So definitely enjoy it while you can! (Heck, enjoy it for all of us that are in the summer program too ) I would also invest on a good laptop if you don't have one for school use already, because the program is very Blackboard driven and computerized driven. All of your assignments, projects, and lectures will be on blackboard broken up into modules weekly to help with organization. As soon as you are able to get on blackboard, I would definitely familiarize myself to the whole system and take a peek at the syllabus. It will help give you an overview of what to expect.
Once again, a big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to everyone! I remember how much of a roller-coaster the application process was for me and now you have just passed the hardest part.....GETTING IN!!!
:yeah:Yay congrats you guys!!! I've been on the other forum for those who started the program this summer, so i recognize some names (hi!) :) I just finished Jr. 1 semester and am waiting for jr 2. this fall. As they said enjoy your free time now! lol The program definitely keeps you very busy, but thats actually a good thing because by the time the semester is over it seems like it went by so fast!
I read some of the previous posts and i really wanted to say that having friends in nursing school is an absolute necessity, your classmates will be what gets you through. You're not competing anymore, so be friends! Having each other as support is a HUGE help.
I got into mayo and am now having a panic attack! Is mayo harder than the downtown program? Does anyone know what to expect or has spoken to someone who has done the mayo program? There is literally NO info that I can find that is helpful.
