Hello, I am trying to get some advice about dealing with a slow recruiter. I have been trying to join the army reserve nurse corps for some time now but my recruiter seems to drag his heels every step of the way. I have had my application completed, passed the physical and passed my nclex but still have not had my application submitted to the board. Last month he kept saying there is plenty of time and my application would be submitted for the july board. Well low and behold when I called the other day he said that before the application was submitted to the board he had to have a unit. I was then told that the army reserve offers some type of opportunity to where you are not assigned to any one particular unit but that he had sent in a request over a week and they sat on his request. Does anyone know about that type of opportunity ? Also can anyone offer any help in trying to deal with a slow recruiter ?, He also told me that regardless of if my application got in july or aug I would not be going to OBLC until 2009 that it is full until after the first of the year. HELP or ADVICE will be appreciated !!!!!!!!!, Littlesiss
Okay, Any advice will help. I still have yet to recieve orders and am frustrated !!!, I commissioned July 30th and have since called my recruiter asking if he has heard anything and he said no. How long does it usually take for orders ??, Thanks, Littlesiss004
Have you heard anything yet?
Hey all,
I just commissioned in the ANC as a 2LT (reserve.) Swore in 5 Aug. My orders came around 15 Oct. Finally report in Dec. I should report in Nov but due to other conflicts (and with the blessing of my CPT at the unit) I will report in Dec for battle assembly. I worked with a Army Dental Recruiter and he was great. Only thing is that you need to stay on them at times, especially after you swear in. I have also found that if they are on the enlisted side, politely tell them to fix it or I am going to the station commander. I my case it was a CPT and he was never involved beyond shaking my hand when I was sworn in by COL Jolitz. The largest hassle for me is the ACU. I live in Vegas, near Nellis AFB, I would love to live near an Army Base but I am going to Ft Lewis in Nov!!!!!!! The problem is that AAFES (@Nellis) doesn't cary much for Army but lots for Air Force.
Pray for our deployed brothers/sisters
Your guess is as good as mine. First recruiter retired, never did much with my packet. Second one ended up being the CO of the station, didn't do any more than pass my stuff off to the next guy, who has it now. I am close to running out of patience with the whole process. It has been two years now, and if this how the Army operates it might be best to remain a civilian.

As someone who is currently on the enlisted side of the Army Reserves and a nursing student, I would suggest not telling them that you are going to tell the CO. I am a SSG and if a brand new 2LT were to tell me they are going to get the CO I would lose all respect for them. Mind you, there are some people (alot actually) that you do have to "keep on", but you do outrank them and it is best that you stick up for yourself. Don't do it in a condescending way though, telling them to "lock it up" or something especially if they are an NCO because they are the backbone of the Army and will be the ones who take care of you, they can make your life hell.
I'm basically just trying to say to stick up for yourself, you are an officer and outrank the enlisted and thus they are to respect you, but handle your own battles and rarely should you ever need to go higher than their superior. Before you complain to the Captain of the unit or whoever talk to the NCOIC (NCO in charge) of that department first, they will take care of the problem....chain of command is there for a reason, use it.
Didn't mean to sound like a "********" session, just trying to give you some insight to the enlisted side of it.

I think I should hug my recruiter.
