Army nursing board met on Tuesday, Nov. 17th and I guess we should expect to hear from them today. Anyone else went up for the Nursing board and if so have you heard anything? I hope we all get accepted. I am excited and really want to go to OBLC in either the February or March class, if I am accepted, because I heard the summer's are brutal. I hope by the end of the day we will all have good news!!!

I spoke with my "new" recruiter today and she said that the board will release results in about two weeks. So, the wait continues.............

I'm sorry...but I just started looking into the army nursing corps and I'm just wondering if someone could explain what is the army nursing boards? Is it similar to a test like nclex or is it more like a selection process. thanks

The "board" we are speaking of is a selection board. Basically the process is this 1. meet with a recuriter 2. fill out a long background package 3. go get a physical at a military base 4. your package goes to Q.A. to make sure there is nothing missing 5 your package goes to the selection board.

the process is INVOLVED and for many has proven to be very frustrating, You can count on it taking months before your packet goes to the board, I started this process about 6 months ago and my packet just went to the board.

Right now I believe everyone who is posting in this thread is awaiting a response from the board. Some people's packet went up in November, nobody can explain why its taking so long. I hope that answers your questions let me know if you have any others...

I believe part of the frustration is part of the process to see if you really want to join or if you are just appling on a whim.

I believe you are correct. Hopefully we will know something before Christmas.... That would be nice.

As an Army Vet my opinion is that you are giving the Army too much credit. Get used to this way of "doing business".

20+ year member of the Army & Navy and yes I have seen much of this. But still believe this is part of the process only that the big green mechine only made it worse.

I hate to tell you this but you must know since you are going to join the organization.

Stop stressing over it. Go shopping, go to the movies, get rid off crap you not longer need and do not want to take with you to the next duty station. Bottom line, do something. Stop stressing or driving yourself nuts over it. If you have nothing derogatory on your background and meet the needs of the Army, you will get in.

You just happen to fall under the holiday cycle of things in the army. The army goes on half day schedule the last two weeks of december. Branch, where your career manager works at, is busy with planning the next summer PCS cycle and just doing what they do. The board, if it already met, then you have to wait for the list to be compiled from the #1 candidate to the last. Then they have to "scrub" the list more to see who wants what for duty station and other things like if you have experience and blah, blah, blah...

I do not mean this post to get on your case or on the case of the rest waiting to get in pending board results. I mean it as free advice from someone that has been working with the organization for a good while.

Wait until it is time to go to OBLC or have your household goods packed by the lowest bidder. That is stressful or even more annoying when you have to go deal with the movers and legal when you discover your car got messed up during transit from the USA to your overseas duty station.

Best of luck. Enjoy the holidays with everyone you have. You never know if the next holiday season could be in the middle of no where with no email access for 90 days.

Again, this is not to get on you or the others waiting. We as nurses must look out for each other.
