Maricopa Comm College CEP Fall 2017 Applicants

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Looking to see if there are any other Maricopa Comm College CEP applicants out there yet for Fall 2017 start (summer 2017 at the university). I put in my application Nov 7th & was told it would be a "couple" weeks until I was notified by email if & what schools I get accepted to. Anyone else out there...yet?

Hi Union Jack,

Good luck with taking the HESI! I applied for the CEP in December for the January 31st deadline. I was told by my adviser that I should hear back at the end of February, so hopefully in a couple of weeks. Yes we will find out if we are placed into both the Maricopa Community College and University. I have not yet looked into scholarships and need to do some more research. I'm sure if you meet with an adviser they can give you some more information. I hope this answered some of your questions. Good luck with everything!

The wait to hear something this month (or next) is probably worse than it was waiting for the application period to finally close. Good luck all, keep checking those inboxes/mailboxes & let us know if you hear anything.

That's exciting! Where did you turn in your application?

I have narrowed my choice of University down to 2. I did also have NAU on the list, but their list of additional pre-reqs put me off. I'm choosing between Ottawa and UIU. I also excluded the two Uni's that aren't part of the financial aid consortium, and ASU just seemed too pricy to me.

I start my final 3 pre-reqs in March...I'm taking all 3 at once to get them done in time to submit my application for the May 31st deadline.

Does anyone know if I submit May 31st what is the earliest start date I could expect (if I got accepted)?

Hello – Sorry for the slow reply.

I submitted my application through Glendale Community college as they have been best at returning my calls as well as offer a weekend program that I am interested in.

I did just about the same thing with my pre-reqs I took 4 in one semester to get them done in time for the application deadline. Why march and not generally the spring semester – are they online in 8 weeks?

Either way as long as the grades post and are on your transcript in time to submit the application on May 31st than the earliest start date would be the next January (Spring) for the nursing blocks. That said if you go with a university like NAU you would be in courses for them in August (Fall).

After the application deadline there is about a month wait to hear on placement. I can't wait to hear – it should only be a couple weeks now. (End of Feb or early March for the Jan applicants).

I hope this helps too!

Again, the GPA values above are made up, I don't know the actual scale they use and what other factors they include towards points. I believe there is a post around this board with more detailed information.

I am not sure if you know for a fact that the total is 10 points because that would contradict what I have heard but I figured I share what I was told too.

I heard the same with the HESI scores except that it came to 12 points total.

For GPA I heard that they just multiply your GPA by four for a maximum of 16 points. I asked because I wondered if retaking a course and improving it by one grade really made a difference and they assured me ever improvement counts.

In addition to this I was told you get an extra point for having all the course work done aka no in progress classes (for the universities that allow them in the first place).

And 1 point if you have an associates degree, 2 for a bachelors, 3 for a masters etc. (only counting your highest degree) - This came from the Glendale campus.

I'd love to actual figure it out they are not very forthcoming about this information.

Good luck everyone!!!

Hello everyone!!

I made my own forum because I applied for gwcc/asu 2017 but no one seems to reply to me on that one. So I've been watching this forum too in hopes to see who else applied with the same cohort as me. I got an email from Asu that says this :,

"You are receiving this email because you have met ASU's GPA requirement for the CEP. However, you are not guaranteed placement at ASU until Maricopa Nursing has officially accepted you into Maricopa Nursing CEP."

Anyone knows what this means?? Should I be Scared? Lol

This just means your acceptance with them is tentative on you being accepted into the Maricopa County Community College Nursing Program come fall. The Ottawa advisor I spoke with put it this way: You are basically accepted with us (the university) but we can not officially accept you in writing until we know you've been officially placed in the nursing program at the community college.

They can't accept you into their cohort until Maricopa officially sends you (and the university) word that you are officially accepted into the Maricopa program. They can't let you enroll in the BSN concurrent program unless you're slated to actually be in a nursing school program at the same time. Basically, ASU is foaming at the mouth to accept you, but can't until Maricopa gives the word to them. Universities aren't nearly as limited for their BSN concurrent program since most of the program is online if not all (plus they're itching to get our money), but the community colleges are limited in how many new nursing students they can place each semester.

The good news, ASU is ready and willing to accept you based on Maricopa giving the go ahead, bad news is we are still waiting on good old Maricopa to let us know if we will be placed this semester. Fingers crossed we all get in, good luck!

Hi Sillykitty09,

I got the same email today too! Fingers crossed we will hear back from Maricopa Nursing soon so we can know for sure if we were accepted! I also applied for GWCC. Did you apply for the traditional or evening program? I applied for the traditional. Let's hope we hear more soon! :)

Hi MsMelissa14

I got excited for nothing when I received that email lol. I hope we both get in!! It would be so cool for us to get in together :) I chose traditional 1st and then evening.

I got a second email today from Ottawa, was so excited because the title started, "Invitation - Nursing..."

Ended up being a notification that I could meet their nursing director. Grr, every time I see a new email in the student account I get excited. Then it's usually the annoying canvas updates email (even after I turned it off).

Yes! I got that too, went from an excited inhale to an audible ugh.

This is the same letter that I got yesterday from ASU. So at this point I guess I'm just waiting to hear from the community college which is suppose to be sometime in March to know whether I have an official spot in the CEP program. Did you here anything different?

That is my understanding of it too. Hopefully Maricopa Nursing will let us know in the next couple of weeks!
