ARE THERE ANY NURSES OUT THERE THAT ACTUALLY "ENJOY" or HAPPY WITH THEIR JOB.

Published

Its kinda of scary reading a lot of the posts on here. It seems as if, so many nurses are not satisfied with their careers. So many people are so tired, aggrevated or stressed. This is so discouraging because, nursing has been a dream that I have felt for so long now. Im currently in my second semester and so far loving it, but is that all going to change once I graduate? Does everyone hate it, is any one happy??? PLEASE SHARE SOME POSITIVE STORIES IF THERE ARE ANY?????

I enjoy nursing, most nurses I know that are burnt out stay in the same postions for the money, regardless if they are happy or not. I have jumped around a little, hospital nursing, nursing homes, office etc. I currently work as a school nurse during the school year and a camp nurse in the summer. I enjoy the work, school nursing pay is low but the hours are great. I LOVE camp nursing, there are a lot of choices for nursing, find the one that is best for you.

Nursing has ALWAYS been my "dream job" I love what I do! I have been a volunteer (candystriper) worked as an aide in LTC, was med nurse at an assisted living facility, did home care, worked pediatrics, pediatric special care, geriatrics, renal, med-surg, OB (L&D and PP/Nur), got my BSN, and my MSN, currently working nursing staff development and teaching as adjunct faculty at a local university and love it all!!! Have been through "stressful and discouraging" periods, but have never wanted out of nursing. For some people, nursing isn't what you do -- it is a huge part of who you are!!!

I like my job for the most part..... the small community hospital seems to suit my needs for the time being. Definately better than retail or fast food..... :(

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that being a nurse isn't stressful, because it is. You have just the right combination of 'good' stress & 'bad' stress in this occupation. Sometimes i catch myself rethinking my career choice and then something heartwarming or heartwrenching happens @ the hospital to serve as a reminder why i really do love being a nurse. :)

The great thing about nursing is that if you aren't happy in one position, there are so many others you can pursue and still be a nurse. Most of the complaints you hear about nursing you will hear no matter what you do for a living, it is just part of living. Everyone has bad days and those are usually the ones you will hear about. Most of the time we don't talk about the ones that were good. Nursing is the only career that I feel I am making a difference in peoples lives. Sometimes my most stressful days were the ones that I would come home and feel I did the best work. For most of us nursing is not just what we do but who we are. :)

I am a new LPN and will return to get my RN next fall. I currently work on the surgical ward at our local community hospital. I would almost pay to work at my job! I started there this past summer to make sure I wasn't making a mistake going into nursing. I had always planned on doing social work. I couldn't have picked a better profession! The hospital where I work supports me and values me (I hope I prove worthy to them). I have been awestruck at the way they have treated me, and they certainly have won my loyality. I had planned on moving to a larger city once I had my RN, but due to their treatment of the nurses, I no longer plan on moving. Our ratio is 5:1 most of the time with a Nurse Tech. Our charge nurses are awesome!
