Hello,
I would like some information on the program, how do you like it? Would you pick this school again if you had the chance? I am applying to the program that is being held here in San Diego. I am nervous about the online portion of the program, is it do-able?
Thanks!
You wouldn't by any chance still have a copy of that book list? I am assuming some of that stuff is still going to be the same.. I just wanted to check it out to see what books we may be using...Thanks!
Unfortunately I do not think I have it...I moved and in the process got rid of stuff and I think that list went with the trash! But I will look for it just in case I decided to keep it. I am pretty sure I threw it out though because I figured things might change with different semesters. They emailed the list though prior to orientation, so we may be getting one soon, hopefully!
So how is everyone feeling? I am trying to make the most of these six weeks before we start...getting nervous though! :uhoh21:
Try this link...I'm not sure it will be the same booklist for our San Diego group but it may be similar. http://nursing.ouhsc.edu/Current_Students/textbooks.html
So...what did you all think? I think the staff was very nice and it is good to know there is help for us if we need it. I am excited about the color of the uniforms, its so pretty and so much better than white!
Are you all buying the books online or through them? I was not sold on the electronic package, LOL.
Just wanted to know what everyone thought...I am not excited about all the stuff we have to do until the program starts but its all a part of the process I guess.
hello! i'm applying to the Fall session and have my advisement session over the phone tomorrow. i'm a little nervous because i received an e-mail saying that it would be an "interview"... did anyone else go through this? was it difficult to get into the program? i would really appreciate any suggestions you guys might have! thanks!
I thought it was good. I wish they gave us more information about the schedule. One day will be at the skills lab and one day at Sharp...do you think the skills lab will always be during the day? Hmm. I didn't buy the book package. I have a hard time reading online materials.
I asked Phyllis when we would register and know about our schedule and she said that they register us and we'll find out more about that on that May date...can't remember right now what day it is. I was hoping to find out more about that as well but we will find out sooner than later!
I am guessing that the skills lab would be the same hours that our clinical day would be, but I am just guessing. As far as books go I'm going to look online for them. Hopefully they'll be cheaper! :uhoh21:
I'm a little more anxious/nervous...its starting to hit me that I'm starting NS soon. LOL...

I met with the counselor in October so it may have changed since then but I do remember them asking if I was going to work while in the program and after explaining the program if I would be a self-starter, etc. I don't believe it was difficult to get in, but do you have all of your pre-reqs finished? I think it would be easier to get in if you were finished with those but that is just my . I believe they are already "impacted" as far as applicants go for the fall session but that doesn't mean you won't get in, its just more competative for that session.:smiley_ab I suggest you write any questions down and have the list handy when you speak with them. They are very accessible via email as well though in case you forget to ask anything (believe me, many questions will come up afterwards).
Best of luck! Feel free to PM me with any other questions. :heartbeat
i thought the info session was good. i didnt buy the electronic book package either because i'm going to buy my books online. do you guys know what supplies we need to buy on our own such as a stethoscope, etc.?
the only thing that sucks is getting all this logistical stuff done before orientation.
i kinda wished current students could've spoken about their experiences so far in the program. hopefully, that'll happen at orientation.
I also thought it went well. I too wish they talked more about scheduling and what not. But how many of you are overwhelmed right now with all the stuff we have to get done by May 13th? I didn't bother with buying the electronic books. I'm bad at reading stuff on the computer. Ill be buying my books online. Sooooo much cheaper.
I bought some books on Amazon and they were reasonably priced. They had a lot of used books (which I like!!) The book list requires the 4th edition of the Physical exam and assessment book...on Amazon, they sell the 5th edition. I'm not sure if it's a typo on the book list or if the 4th edition is the required text?? Also, I am hoping to have day clinical hours because of daycare. Is anyone interested in having night clinicals?? Phyllis said that I could find a student to switch with if there were a conflict. If you're interested, it would be nice to know someone to go to rather than send a mass email :-)
