First of all I want to say I LOVE ALLNURSES!!! It has been the best resource for me for so many things.
Sadly, I have noticed in the last year or so that there are more and more negative postings. Some OP’s will post innocent topics and get torn a new one for nothing. Why?
We should be encouraging one another and not be putting people down. The saying "nurses eat their young"….I once thought it was not true, but I am beginning to think it is.
I am not trying to pinpoint nurses who have been in the field for many years; however, I have noticed many negative comments come from people who have forgotten what it was like to start out as a nurse. Other comments that are nasty I figure are from people who just have low self esteem and want to tear someone apart to feel better.
Maybe the economy is just taking a toll on people? Whatever it is I hate to see it. I love Allnurses. I would hate to see it become a negative place where people can’t share their thoughts without the fear of ridicule.

The scariest thing for me looking to enter the nursing world is that I know I will be working for nurses that do not really care about doing their job well and want to complain about everything.
I hope not! Be careful about these generalizing statements! We are not all like this. I hope you will not have this attitude when you get into the nursing world. Having this attitude carries a lot of baggage.
Jeez, at least get into the nursing world and give us a chance to screw up. Then you can judge us!

I'm starting to think the same thing. I wish they would actually read the whole post before they make negative comments.
Like previous posters have said, if you ask a question, don't expect everyone to give you the answer you WANT to hear.
It's like in the International Forum, there are clear stickies to read if you are searching for info and yet, day after day the same questions are asked and "evil" people won't be "helpful" and do the research for the poster.
Or we get husbands in the international forum wanting to know how much their wives will make when they bring them to the US, how their wives who have often never held a paying job will walk into a job over domestically educated nurses. These guys are scary.
We're not really negative, just fed up of the same questions being constantly asked.
I thought this as well, because I have responded to a few posts and have gotten sarcastic responses. But, I left it alone because I didn't want to seem negative.
I really don't think it's negativity. It is more the fact that people on here may be more opinionated or assertive then your use to possibly. Opposite opinion then one that you have may seem negative to you but may receive a kudos to someone who shares the same opinion. I don't see name calling on these threads or anyone harrassing or calling people stupid on these threads or being hostile, now that's negativity. An opposite opinion in my book is NOT negative. It is how one voices their opinion that may be negative so a callous person is negative but their view or opinion is not.
