Are grades in your school shared?

Maybe not by identifying the person, but are the class grades shared with everyone? Our school they are not, for 2 tests in our second semester their was a graph with the average and how many people got what in a 5 or 3 percent region.(I can't remember exactly what the span was but it was under 5) IE: 6 people got 70-75% on the little chart. Their was always one that had 100% though and the number of students was one more then we had. Well a student asked an instructor if the 100% was the Key and apparently the graph wasn't supposed to be up there and they removed it. So out of 1 year and many classes we have never known what the class got except those 2 tests.

I see posts on here though always talking like people know exactly what grade everyone got. So I was curious if grades are shared with everyone or if people are just going off what they have heard.

Sometimes I wish the graph was back up again (I admit for selfish reasons) but at the same time it's not a big deal because at the end of the day it's my grade I am worried about the most. Our teachers feel their is no benefit for grades to be shared so that is why they don't share them.

We get our own grade and then in class the teacher has a breakdown of how many people got what grade. She mainly does it to provide us with feedback on how we did on the test. If there is an overwhelming amount in the D/F category she will go back and review the test first by herself and then with us to clarify information. Our class everyone shares what they got anyways so its not that big a deal. My class is very small and we all get along great and its no big deal to know that I failed this test or this person got the highest.

Are class is semi like that, we have our smaller group of friends and we have a few that seem to only like to here others grades to make themselves try and feel better (if someone did worse) but there are a good majority that we aren't close but we know if someone is doing bad and people will try to encourage them. Usually know from Facebook.

Ours are the same, we get our grade and also a graph broken down by percentage and how many students fell into each bracket, i.e. 80-85%, 85-90%, 90-95%, etc. It's really nice to see, it helps to see how tough the test collectively was compared to your own score :D

I only find my individual class percentage online. I kinda prefer not seeing the class average cuz if I ever did lower than the class average, I'd be pretty bummed out. In any case, some people blurt out how well (or not so well) they did on a particular exam or quiz. As for myself, I remain mum on whatever score I get or I usually say my general response of "Meh, I did okay."

for my school, after we take the exam it will show our grade. and its up to the other person to tell someone if they grades. i passed all exams and if someone would ask me i would say "ya, i passed". its personal information.... i would not appraoch people and ask their grades because you can tell when someone walks out of class if they failed or passed by the expression on their faces.....so i've never asked.

my instructor will not say who passed or failed or what is the class average. she said one time, "this is the first term that the entire class did very well".....:p:redpinkhe:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:.....yah!!!

Most of my professors don't post grades on blackboard til the end of the semester. So its up to us to track how we are doing and whether we are in danger of failing.

Our professors don't share our grades, but my classmates and I share with each other.

Our class is similar. We are down to 18 people and we are close. I am glad not to be in a competitive class. We all support each other and celebrate good grades together and cry over bad grades together.

We had blackboard to, although it's now switched to something called Desire2learn and this is where are grades are posted as well. That is where for 2 tests it had the little graph with the averages (nothing identifying anyone). But like I said, they took that off and now it's all switched over to this new program.

I have seen so many posts saying how everyone in the class failed, or I got the best grade in the class and what not so I just wondered how everyone knew what everyone else got. Wasn't sure if my school was in the minority with not posting everyone's (in whatever form).

I am in the EVE/WE course and most of us are career changers or much older than the avg student. Our teachers will often say that we "did much better than the day students", but we never know how much. We also have lives/jobs so we don't really expect to always get A's.

I do know that if I share my grade with Student A and someone else asks Student A what I got, that student will share. Some folks do the "I did OK" thing too. Nobody is concerned one way or the other.

We have lost a few students since term 1 (they dropped back a term), but for the most part, we have been together since the beginning. Term 3 is over. Term 4 begins Monday. :D

People in our program ask as well. I usually say the "I did ok" to anyone except my closest friends. However, there are always people that we are particularly curious as to how they do. In particular, an older gentlemen who sits next to me in theory (I'm older as well, but he's probably got 10 years on me). He barely pays attention in class, is often rude to our teacher, and finished our last 50 question exam in less than 10 minutes. They wanted me to ask his grade since I sit next to him, but I didn't have the guts since we don't speak much.

We made up our own 4 digit number at the beginning of each semester. Grades were posted with those numbers. You could see how everyone did, plus they broke it down with %. Worked fine in my opinion.

We don't have a class average posted. Many people talk about their scores with other people, although our class is huge, so it's impossible to know what everyone got. We do have those annoying people who want to know everyone's score though. I don't talk about my grade with anyone. You can tell when we are getting closer to the end of the semester though because more and more chairs are empty.

Most of the time the only thing that has been shared in the classes I have been in is how the class did as a whole (by the professor). However, of course there are people who ask and it kind of depends on how they act as to whether I tell them my specific grade or not (I try to feel them out to see if they are going to get competative with me or not and if it seems they are I am more general with the information than if they don't). However, I have had people ask me what I got as far as grades, etc and then if I was doing better than they were ask me how I study, pointers etc. (and I have been more than happy to offer those suggestions to them and have done the same with others to obtain study tips also). I guess I am the type of person who would rather have everyone be supportive of each other than not cause we are all here to learn.
