Hello everyone,

I am in the process of applying to APU ELM program for Spring of 2019. I was just looking to connect to other applicants. I will be applying to the main campus. If anyone has any questions feel free to post, I have found the older forums from previous cohorts to be very helpful when looking for advice.

I took it in Hawaii so I'm not much help I'm sorry. But yeah kinda worried about the number of spots available!! I'm gonna go ahead and put a deposit down at Western just to be safe.

I took the research methods at Cal State Fullerton, it is offered online usually. :D

So I calculated program costs and my tuition alone at Azusa is more than the total cost of tuition and living at Western. I calculated $88k for tuition alone at Azusa whereas the total cost of the program at Western including living expenses is $85k. That's a big difference especially if I don't super need that BSN

Wait I might have miscalculated again...

Yeah fml the 85k is just for one year at Western. HOW do people afford this

haha yea man, that's why I don't understand why people choose to go to USD. I get the quality of the program but cost is a huge factor for me. Some people are able to live with family or spouse etc and not worry about living costs etc.

Also, APU's 18 month BSN portion is absolutely $50k. Here is the question I posed to my interviewer via email, and she confirmed they are correct numbers:

"Another question I had is regarding tuition. On the website the projected cost is ~$74-89k based on 107-128 units. However, this cost would be for the entire program up until earning the full Master's degree. Thus, earning the BSN in the Pre-Licensure phase would cost approximately $50k based on 73 units at $693 per unit, correct? Then for the FNP path it looks like it is an additional 45-47 units, is that right?"

Hope this helps!

@somedayFNP and I'm not sure about Western's program but isn't that $85k only for the RN, granted it's an MSN? Don't you need to reapply to the NP portion which would be an additional cost?

Yeah that cost is the estimated annual cost for each year of the 3 year RN/MSN. The estimated cost for fourth year FNP is another 50k! So in that sense, APU is approximately 25% cheaper. It might be worth waiting until spring 2019 or later for like 50k less in loans

@somedayfnp Congrats on Western!!!

@SomedayFNP Congrats on Western!

So I emailed my advisor today in regards to not hearing back about an interview yet, and he said that second time applicants typically don't get second interviews and to wait to hear back until mid-late April.. so I am terribly confused and hoping for the best.

Does anyone know how they will notify us?
