Hello everyone,

I am in the process of applying to APU ELM program for Spring of 2019. I was just looking to connect to other applicants. I will be applying to the main campus. If anyone has any questions feel free to post, I have found the older forums from previous cohorts to be very helpful when looking for advice.

Anyone waiting to hear back from APU for the summer 2019 cohort?

So unfortunately I was told by a counselor that the list of scholarships I had we are unable to apply for until after we complete our NCLEX. As of right now, I do not know of any scholarships we qualify for that we could apply before starting the program. Does anyone know anyone in the program already that could provide tips on what material (Physio, Anat, etc..) we could be reviewing before we start the program in order to be better prepared?

Anyone waiting to hear back from APU for the summer 2019 cohort?

Yes, I am! As I understand from APU ELM Summer 2019 they will send the decisions out in the mid-late August.

They changed their decision two weeks after I accepted my loans in the APU Student Center. I didn't receive a letter or anything regarding the decision yet, but I found out when I log into my APU Student Center and only saw the Fed Loan. I called the Financial Aid department to see why the Grad Plus Loan is no longer showing and that's when she informed me of the bad news. She said the Grad Plus is based on your credit score. It's strange how I was approved a certain amount and they did checked my credit that day (I saw on Credit Karma) and after I accepted and signed the Grad Plus letter, they later changed their mind. My mom can cosign for me. Hopefully, they will approve this time. Be sure to check your Student Center often to make sure you are approved for both of the loans because that's not always the case. They might change their decision like what happened to me.

@Soma122 Thank you for sharing this information. Were you able to get the Grad Plus with a cosigner? I hope it all worked out for you. I need to start my loan process soon. Do you know what credit score is required for Grad Plus? Also, how much can you take out for Grad Plus?

How long is the apu elm program to become a fnp? Is it possible to complete in 3 years?

I have good news! I reviewed the letter they sent on why I was rejected for the Grad Plus Loan, and it says that it was from a defaulted loan that was paid off. I was confused because I don't have any defaulted loans, turns out it was an error. I had a school loan years ago, but it was paid off. I called the Department of Education, and they told me I could appeal the decision and I also need to send them a copy of my credit report so they can approve my Grad Plus Loan. After a few days of review, they approved me for a Grad Plus Loan. I was able to accept up to 44,000 a year, but I will only take what I need. I believe you can get up to $44,000 per year that you can use for other educational related expenses. I am so glad I didn't need a co-signer, and everything worked out. My credit is fair, and around 670 and I do make my payments on time. I think as long you make payments on time, and you have a decent credit history, you have a chance of getting approved. I'm working on getting my credit score back to the 700's :-)

I think it's 3.5 years

Hello! Is anyone else who's starting Spring 2019 in the process of applying for loans? I just received my loan offer and was offered $20,500 for the unsubsidized loan and $26,990 for Grad Plus. This is just for Spring and Summer 2019. It looks like earlier in the thread people received more for the Grad Plus... I was just curious because I asked the financial aid representative via email and she said I received the max amount, but according to earlier posts on here other students have been receiving more. Or possibly the students receiving more were getting loans for all three semesters (fall, spring and summer)? I just want to make sure I have enough to cover all living expenses without stressing over money. If anyone is comfortable sharing their loan offers it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

Hi! I received a similar amount but you received more than me for Grad Plus. However, I did not take out the whole amount for my Grad Plus. I felt the same way about you at first but go ahead and call your counselor/advisor and they will help you with this loan process. My counselor told me the exact amount I needed to take out to cover all expenses for the spring and summer term. According to her, I had enough.

Hello everyone! Does anyone know the date of our orientation? Thanks.

@doctav I believe it's Monday December the 10th at 8am :)

Thanks JLynnY! I'm excited to meet everyone soon.
