Hello everyone,

I am in the process of applying to APU ELM program for Spring of 2019. I was just looking to connect to other applicants. I will be applying to the main campus. If anyone has any questions feel free to post, I have found the older forums from previous cohorts to be very helpful when looking for advice.

Well in an interesting turn of events it looks like I won't be reapplying to Azusa. I've realized during this cardiac rotation that I want to eventually be an NP in cardiology, and even though it's possible as a FNP or gerontology primary care NP, it is much better preparation to complete an adult-gerontology acute care NP program. So looks like I will reapply to CSULA and UCLA for summer/fall and have CSU San Marcos as the backup. Good luck in the program everybody!!!

@inkabruce That's awesome, good luck!!! :)

Hi everyone!

I was accepted to summer 2019 for the IE campus! Hope to connect with some of you :)

Hello everyone!

I am going to create a facebook group for everyone who was accepted into the APU ELM Spring 2019 in San Diego! We will be with each other for the next few years, so it would be great to get meet everyone before orientation.

I look forward to meeting everyone!

Hi again! I got an email from APU saying a spot opened up in the Fall 2018 cohort for the Main campus. However, I'm still all set up to start WesternU in August so I turned it down. They said they would be offering this spot to another Spring 2019 student so one of you guys might be able to start sooner!!

Hi guys! Will any of you guys be planning to work during the program? Just wanting to see if it will be possible.

I am planning on working around 24 hours a week to pay for bills and what not. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

Thought I was approved for the Grad Plus for $24,000 but turns out they later checked my credit and didn't approve me. Now I only have the Fed Loan for $20,500. That amount alone won't cover the rest of the tuition. So I'm disappointed. I will try to see if my mom can cosign for me. I spoke with one of the APU advisors, and she said that our tuition is around 23,500 per year for The ELM program. Hopefully, I can apply for a few scholarships and get some more money that's if I still, don't get approved for the Grad Plus even with a cosigner. My credit is okay around 650, so I think it's strange they didn't approve me for the Grad Plus Loan. I don't plan to work while in the ELM program and was depending on the Grad Plus Loan to help cover the cost of other educational And living expenses. I may have to work part-time while in school :-/

Hi Soma122 sorry to hear about the loan situation. IF you don't mind me asking, when/ how did they change their decision for grad plus loan? I ask because I recently accepted my loans in the APU student center, but they haven't sent me any letters or emails yet stating changes to the amount or saying I'm not approved. Any info helps thanks!

They changed their decision two weeks after I accepted my loans in the APU Student Center. I didn't receive a letter or anything regarding the decision yet, but I found out when I log into my APU Student Center and only saw the Fed Loan. I called the Financial Aid department to see why the Grad Plus Loan is no longer showing and that's when she informed me of the bad news. She said the Grad Plus is based on your credit score. It's strange how I was approved a certain amount and they did checked my credit that day (I saw on Credit Karma) and after I accepted and signed the Grad Plus letter, they later changed their mind. My mom can cosign for me. Hopefully, they will approve this time. Be sure to check your Student Center often to make sure you are approved for both of the loans because that's not always the case. They might change their decision like what happened to me.

No, 20,500 per year won't cover the whole tuition. I spoke with someone from APU FA, and she said tuition for the ELM program is around 23,500 per year. You can either apply for scholarships or get someone to cosign for the Grad Plus if your credit isn't that great.

Thanks Soma122. I guess Ill find out soon I accepted the loan a few days ago ill keep checking. Regarding scholarships, I was told by a few students that are already in the program that we can't receive nor qualify for any until we complete a few semesters and have grades to show. Most of the scholarships I've researched only apply after we've completed our BSN portion of the program. If you anyone finds good scholarships to apply for please let me know as well. I will be posting a list I have at home of a few scholarships when I get back home.
