I am currently applying for Azusa Pacific Univsity's Entry Level Master's program for a start date of Fall 2014. The deadline is coming up quickly! If anyone else is applying now, feel free to add!
Hi Tina! My experience was a bit different from Ttotheana. I had a skype interview for the SD campus, and the prompt was actually sent to me during my interview (had 20 minutes to write it). I forget exactly how long mine lasted (about 30-45min total), but overall, it was pretty chill and conversational. Don't forget to prepare some questions in advance. : )
AutumnRain, thank you to you as well for sharing. I'm just super super super nervous so glad that a lot of people found it more relaxed.
May I please ask everyone if there was anything that caught you off guard during the interview process? Or any preparation advice in advanced please?
I apologize for the countless questions but the fright/anxiety is getting to my head. Thanks so much in advance!
Hi everyone! Congratulations on getting in! I am so excited to be finishing up my application to apply for the Summer of 2015 (May start). I am wondering how early I should submit my application? The deadline is July 1 but I was going to be sending it late May. Is this too late? It seems like many people apply and end up getting admitted for earlier terms.
I am worried about the interview! It seems like not everyone even went through that part? Mine would be a phone interview as I currently live in Germany. I would love any feedback anyone has! How early is too early to apply? I am pretty much just polishing at this point so I suppose I could send in my application now, however I would not be able to come for an earlier term if admitted and I don't want to turn it down either. Any advice is appreciated, and again, CONGRATULATIONS!
Even if you're invited to start early and enter the cohort before the one you applied to, you're guaranteed the spot you originally applied (and accepted) into. So I would suggest you apply early since I've heard some things about people applying later towards the deadline and not getting interviews. Definitely don't think it would hurt at all to apply as soon as the application opens
@ super nerd: Thanks for sharing! May I please ask if it was hard for you (though it caught you off guard)? I'm assuming that it was essay format or something like that? Sharing your opinion right? May I please ask for your advice in preparing for that prompt? (Although I know you can't study for it or what not, but advice as in time management etc?)
Thanks!
I didn't get a time limit, I was told to take my time. But I hear other people having time limits... My prompt had nothing to do with nursing, it was basically about someone inspirational in my life (I'll leave it at that before someone beats me up on this forum haha), there is no right or wrong... and honestly, I do not know how important this prompt is because I had some terrible spelling errors (so use to using spell check, no spell check when its pen and paper!). They told me the point of the prompt was to make sure that people wrote their own personal statement, in the past people have written amazing personal statement/letters of intent, but then when they started the program the school realize they couldnt really write that well (opps!), so as long as you can string a cohesive sentence along I think you will be fine :)
@ super nerd: Oh I see! So it is more about asking your own opinion, I was afraid that it was to test our knowledge of something. It was all on the computer based or did you use a pen/paper?
Also, if you don't mind, may I please ask if you interviewed with just one person or a panel of judges (most seem to be only one person)? Also, I know that based on this forum, it was like a 50/50 question asking and then the other half was going over your application personally but was there anything that totally caught you off guard that you can advise?
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, it really does help calm the crazy anxiety getting to my head. I really do appreciate your time and effort. :)
Congratulations Deric002!! Out of curiosity how did you find out you were accepted, and what campus were you accepted into. I applied for Spring 2015 for the Inland Empire campus, and was told that I would likely be admitted for the Spring, and would be wait listed for the Fall since my pre-requisites would be complete. Really hoping to hear soon about an open spot in the Fall soon!!
