APU BSN Summer 2021

Hey everyone,

I have just submitted my application for the Summer BSN program at APU. Has anyone else submitted their application or would anyone else like to share their stats?

 

Science GPA: 3.16

Overall: 3.66

We all feel that parent guilt having to be away from family due to lecture, skills, or clinical but just remember it’s only temporary. COVID has made it a lot easier to get through school as a parent since it’s online and more flexible. My daughter was 2 when I was in LVN school and I thought that was much more difficult since we had to attend in person.

That makes me feel a lot better knowing that you and most of your cohort have children. That definitely gives me that extra push knowing that since others are doing it, I can too. The big thing is just remembering it's temporary just like you said. Did they say how long they plan to keep classes online?

Today is the final day for applications! I received my stats. Cum 3.58 Sci 3.35. 
I have a little over 5 years experience. This is the first school I am applying to. I am so nervous. Not an hour goes by without me praying and hoping I get it. 
I wish everyone the best of luck ? we all deserve this! ?‍⚕️ ❤️ 

question: I have asked both of my recommenders and they have not revived an email yet, does anyone know if only those who are in consideration have their recommendations looked into?

recommendations are looked at for all applicants. I didn’t have a recemmondation letter for one of my professors and my program rep emailed me saying so and then she said that both were needed in order for my application to be sent to the academic department. I would definitely call azusa and let them know what’s going on. I hope you get your letters in by today my fingers are crossed for you!

And that was for this current application? I have literally asked my advisor over and over if there was anything else and he says no. LOL. Hopefully they send emails out today or something. But yes I will confirm. ?

Yes for this current application. When you said your professors didn’t receive an email do you mean the email for the letter of recommendation form?

They’re taking it semester by semester since things are always changing. They’ve decided all of Spring semester will be online but haven’t mentioned any changes for Summer or Fall semester.

When you first filled out the application, there is a section for recommendations where you write in the emails of the two people who you would like to complete the recommendation forms. They are then emailed the link to complete the online recommendation right away. I know for a fact they look at recommendations HEAVILY from every application they receive. I would double check and ask your references to maybe look in their spam folders and see if the email might have been accidentally overlooked.

That is correct. Okay I just reached out to both of my recommenders and told them to keep an eye out. I literally had them write me letters and was thrown off by the whole email thing. Is that how most schools do it now and days?

Im glad you figured it out! I’m surprised your program representative wasn’t aware that the 2 letters of recommendation were missing. Like Maria said, APU sends out a letter of recommendation form for the professors to fill out. I don’t think it’s like that everywhere it probably varies from college to college

Thanks! Correction, spoke to my advisor, all references were completed back in August. That’s when I started my application. It’s just a waiting game now until Mid to end March. ???

     I am also curious as to what your schedule with classes/clinicals looks like! How many days a week/ is part of this online right now due to COVID? Which campus are you at?

I have a year and a half experience as a CNA in a hospital and some experience in a post acute. I’m hoping it’s enough to get accpected. I started my app June 2020 and submitted my app the 5th of this month  but still waiting for my one professor to submit her letter of recommendation. I had a friend saying to me that the earlier you start/ submit your app the better chances it is to get in! Not sure if that’s true or not but I thought I’d do everything early just in case. Good luck to you and hopefully we can keep touch throughout this process!! Also for reference, I had 2 friends get accpeted. My one friend had an overall of 3.3 and science GPA of 4.0, the other friend had an overall of 3.6 and science GPA of 3.7! 

Did your friends who got in have any sort of prior healthcare/medical experience?
