Per the request of janina08 I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)
I got a private message from a user that is taking the test in April just thought that it might benefit some others. Hope this helpsv The test isn't really that bad. You will think that you are absolutely an idiot and that you are failing the heck out of the thing, but when you pass and looking back you will realize it wasn't that bad.
v A good thing to know is if you are getting prioritizing, delegation, and choose all that apply, you are doing pretty good ( meaning you have a great chance of it cutting off at 75). I didn't know that until AFTER I took the test, but I have talked with many ppl that has said the same thing. If you are getting more generalized question, common knowledge questions you may have to go with a little more questions. I have also seen a trend that the last question you take is a good indicator of how you did. Meaning: that if the last question you got right then you passed and if you had know idea about the question and were sure you got it wrong and it cut off you probable didn't pass. Now I don't know if that is true but the lady running the testing when I took it told me that and some of my friends also said that held true. Just some things to keep in mind.
v The best thing that you can remember is DO NOT study the night before taking the test, take a night off and relax, I went to a hotel near the testing center and just chilled and that was some of the BEST advice that I had got form anyone. I have a 4 yo daughter and a husband and it was so nice just to settle down for a great nights sleep. I also found the testing center the night before so that I would know exactly where it was.
v Some things that I would REALLY focus on are prioritizing, delegation, ABC and Maslow's hierarch of need. And NO matter what even in the real world if someone is bleeding to death and you also have someone in the answers that is DIB....... ALWAYS use your ABC.... Go to the DIB first, no mater how stupid it may seem. Because when you are taking the NCLEX you are in a PERFECT hospital!!!! I hope this helped, fell free to message me anytime. I am also going to post this on the April test takers board... it was such a great question!!!

WHT IS DIB???????????????
Hi!! I'm scheduled to take NCLEX this April 18..I'm sooo anxious already!!!:heartbeat
I'm reading the textbook from Saunders and i also do practice questions from saunders q&a book and CD-ROM,kaplan question trainer and Lacharity book (don't know how its spelled) ...But i've heard a lot of compliments regarding that Lacharity book..My classmates who passed the exam with 75 questions studied that book and said it's helpful since it focuses on prioritization and delegation...
God bless to all of us April takers!!! My prayers are with all of you!! Hope we'll make it!!!!
Hey guys, I just took my nclex yesterday- keep your fingers crossed for me! I thought I'd share with you a couple of tips:
- I had TONS of questions on prioritizing. Which patient do I see FIRST? Which phone call do I take first? Which patient do you assign to the NA, and which do you give to the LPN? These made me crazy, so go over them!
-REALLY go over PRECAUTIONS, such as Droplet, Airborne, Contact. Etc.... There were TONS of questions on these. Go over which diseases require which precautions, what to wear inside their room, what kind of room you'd put them in, and who you'd put them with as far as roomates.
I found the questions to be most similar to Kaplan. Some were even the same! If you can get a Kaplan CD- do it. I got mine on Ebay.
BREAK A LEG! Happy Studies!
Now I am worried...... I have been reading Saunders for the past 6 weeks and my test is in three weeks.............. should I buy the Kaplan CD and postpone my exam
Many people have passed NCLEX just by using Saunders, only you can decide on whether to postpone your exam date but would suggest you just practice as many questions as you can and make sure you understand the rationale to the ones you get wrong
