Appropriate for NP to give gifts?

Hey guys, just curious. I started a new job in August, in a doc's office. I get along really well with everyone, and I love the job, but with the holidays coming up, I wonder...is it appropriate to give my staff a little something for Christmas? Most of them are women, so I was thinking along the lines of maybe little Bath and Body Works washes/lotions, or something like that. The docs are easy, one's a chocoholic, and the other has a wicked sense of humor, so that's a no-brainer.

I know this is a stupid question, but I have never been in a supervisory role before, and I'm not really sure about the whole etiquette angle of this. I cook all the time for them, and they seem to love it, based on them meeting me at the door to see what's for breakfast.

Just wanting some input on how it is where y'all are. Anybody deal with this? Any policies that might be problematic ( I can't think of any, but it's early yet)? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I think that's a great idea!!! The NP at my last job did exactly that-she bought all the nurses and MA's gifts from Bath and Body Works!! It really boosted morale and showed that she appreciated all that we did for the comapny and the patients!!:icon_hug:

I think it's a really great thing to do as it shows you care about the people you work with. Something small like some lotions etc. as you were mentioning seem pretty appropriate. I appreciate being appreciated by my boss, and a small gift like that goes a long way.

I think that is very appropriate for gifts. I have given small tote bags with a pair of nursing socks...well socks that had fun/funny symbols of nursing items on them, as well as foot treatment items.

I think it shows how much you care and value your co-workers.

sure - as long as everything is kept equal, i think it's a great idea to treat your staff and co-workers to a tchotchke.

I would be honored to receive a gift from my bosses and supervisors. Another thing could be to bring in coffee and donuts, or depending on how many there are working under you, treat them to an inexpensive lunch. Bottom line is that it makes everyone feel appreciated.
