Applying to UCLA MECN to start Fall 2015?

Hi! Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program? Last year I applied and wasn't accepted. I believe they accepted around 12%. They had 70 spaces down from 90 the previous year.

hey everyone.. So they said I have to take Epidemiology prior to fall quarter and also they recommend taking Nursing 50.

so do we have to take Epi at UCLA? if not where else is it offered?

do I have to take them both prior to fall quarter necessarily? I want to know when does the Epi class starts ?

Hey sandram417, I took the BYU class online last summer--I actually didn't think it was that bad. The class at UCLA is probably better but BYU is a more affordable option. I have the textbook for the BYU class if anyone wants it for free, otherwise I'm just going to donate it. Congrats on getting in to UCLA!

Thanks so much for this advice! I think I will end up taking the BYU online course because I have a few free months coming up before summer classes start... And it is MUCH more affordable...

I thought the course was fine. It certainly wasn't the best course I'll ever take, but I learned enough. It is online though, so you have to be pretty self-directed, and I think not having a professor to ask q's to could be frustrating. I did it in a month, which was a bit down to the wire, I'd recommended taking at least 6 weeks. You do have to find a proctored spot to take the exams, I did it in West LA which was very easy, but it might depend on availability in your area (don't know if you are in LA or not). You do have to get the exams (midterm & final) mailed to the proctor and then mailed back to BYU. I would definitely recommend the rush option (think it is Fedex, and it's easy to choose when you request the exam). That way you don't have to worry about your exam not arriving in time. Hi I'm new to the forum and wanted to reply to the above question. I applied to UCLA MECN for FALL 2015 and I got accepted. I have to take the EPI during the summer. There's also UCLA EPI 100, has anyone taken this class at UCLA?

Btw after you all join fb, you may want to change the name to UCLA MECN Class of 2017 or something of that nature so you all don't get confused with the class that is graduating this year :) So excited for you all!! If you have any questions, let me know! I know the admission coordinators are super busy.

Nursing 50 IS epidemiology, and it starts the last week of june and ends the first week of august. June29-Aug7
