  1. I made a Facebook group, come join! We used one a lot for my last nursing program and it was super helpful to share information, questions, and help each other out. The name is CSULB NP 2020
  2. Has anyone started a Facebook group yet for our cohort? We can share info get to know eachother...all that good stuff
  3. I applied to FNP
  4. I got my acceptance letter in the mail today too. Congrats everyone !!
  5. I heard the same in terms of when we'll find out-pretty soon! I also applied for FNP.
  6. I applied on 2/13 but unfortunately have not heard anything from the school about being selected for an interview. I did see some threads in past years about the interview and writing portion -can't recall exactly what was said but I'd look around allnurses. Good luck !
  7. I also have an interview on Wed. I am not sure if they are done calling yet or not because I heard other units had been called earlier this week. Good luck everyone!!! Hope you get some good news.
  8. I thought the course was fine. It certainly wasn't the best course I'll ever take, but I learned enough. It is online though, so you have to be pretty self-directed, and I think not having a professor to ask q's to could be frustrating. I did it in a month, which was a bit down to the wire, I'd recommended taking at least 6 weeks. You do have to find a proctored spot to take the exams, I did it in West LA which was very easy, but it might depend on availability in your area (don't know if you are in LA or not). You do have to get the exams (midterm & final) mailed to the proctor and then mailed back to BYU. I would definitely recommend the rush option (think it is Fedex, and it's easy to choose when you request the exam). That way you don't have to worry about your exam not arriving in time. Feel free to msg me if you have more questions!
  9. Hey sandram417, I took the BYU class online last summer--I actually didn't think it was that bad. The class at UCLA is probably better but BYU is a more affordable option. I have the textbook for the BYU class if anyone wants it for free, otherwise I'm just going to donate it. Congrats on getting in to UCLA!
  10. @ tatumollusk , as far as I know, they accept however many students they have spots for (50, or 70, not sure which) and then some applicants are asked to be on the waitlist. They don't accept 100, for example, and then hope their yield will be 70. I'm a current MECN. Hope that helps!
  11. Jumping in the conversation here, even though I didn't apply to CSULA, I am deciding between UCLA and another direct entry NP program that I've already sent a deposit to. My goal is to be a NP, eventually, but I am torn between thinking I should do a direct entry program and be a NP in 3 years, or take more time, work as a RN for awhile, and gain some "real" experience. Has anyone done much research on post-masters certificates? I've done a little on UCLA's, which is about $50K total for tuition and is a "self-supporting program"--not exactly sure what that means. I really dont know what to do. Wish UCLA had given us more than 10 days to decide!
  12. Peppymint, there was no info about orientation, unfortunately. I think a poster from a previous year said it was a day or two in late July? bruin2010, the portal still says "to date, no decision has been made on your application," even though I got the acceptance email.
  13. My last name also starts with an H. Hmm. Maybe they are doing some odd alphabetical order. Don't give up hope!
  14. I just got an email from --------- with a congratulations on my acceptance to the MECN program. Yipeeee! I checked online about 15 min ago and there was still no update on my status. So, they are still sending out acceptances today! Good luck!!!!
  15. Hey everyone! Has anyone come across info about the MECN program about student:preceptor ratios during clinicals and the total number of clinical hours in the program? I couldn't seem to find this info on their website. Was thinking of emailing admissions but trying not to bug them so they get our notifications out to us sooner. Thanks!!
