Congrats to everyone who got accepted!! Just heard back that I’m on the waitlist. Anyone have any info on how many people they typically take off the waitlist?

Northeastern ABSN Fall 2016
@franklin_washington - I'm actually graduating in two weeks, ah! As far as the online lectures are concerned, I was very hesitant myself about how I would like the program format, especially having just graduated from university where classes were all in-person. Honestly, I think the biggest "negative" component about the online classes is that you have to keep yourself extremely organized and self-motivated to stay on top of lectures and assignments. Since you can technically watch any lecture at any time or complete any assignment throughout the semester, you have to make your own schedule that works for you - for me, I treated the program like a "9-5" and watched lectures/did assignments in that time frame, barring lab or clinical hours. Since you aren't in class with your classmates, the program encourages you to reach out to your classmates and study together. You will be in groups for your clinical hours in the hospital, which is where I made most of my friends. I'm not sure how big the Charlotte class is, but a change from undergrad for me was that I know almost everyone in my cohort, compared to undergrad where I was in 300 person lectures. We have a Facebook group, and there is very much a "we're all in this together" vibe. Faculty typically hold on campus test reviews before the exams, but other than that, most are only available over email. I was never someone who utilized "office hours" much in undergrad, so not having the opportunity to ask questions in person didn't feel odd to me. Feel free to send me a PM if you want my email for any other questions! Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to go to Northeastern's program.

Northeastern ABSN Fall 2016
@abk100 First of all, congrats! In the first semester, test days are Tuesday mornings for a one hour block in Burlington, lab days are either Wednesday or Fridays for a 3 hour block in Burlington, and clinicals are a 6-hour shift on a day that doesn't conflict with lab or tests. Besides that, the program is super flexible as far as completing lectures and assignments on your own time. Plus, you'll have the same schedule every week so you could plan for childcare on those days. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Funny you should mention that - we were just sent a list of things we'll need to buy for the school year. Send me a message with your email and I can forward it your way!

Northeastern ABSN Fall 2016
I was told I'd hear back in 2 weeks and it ended up being closer to 4. But I completely agree, the admissions counselors are great. I got an email from the university and a call from my admissions counselor once the decision was made. Good luck! :)

@XAMX I do understand that what anyone posts online is not private. However, these forums were created so that people experiencing similar situations can share their experiences openly in order to support each other through a stressful time. I don't know how your friend reacted to that rejection, but if a school is more worried about people expressing frustration on an online forum than eliminating that prospective student's frustration, it would not be a school I would feel comfortable attending.

Northeastern ABSN Fall 2016
I had a mix of A's and B's so don't be too nervous! Luckily, you'll get your admissions decision back fairly quickly so there won't be too much of a wait once it's submitted. Good luck!

Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 Program
I'm feeling pretty disrespected by the admissions department, honestly. I've been on the waitlist since I submitted my application in late November, completed a video interview, and was placed on the waitlist again. Since then, I've heard nothing from them. The lack of communication from their department has led me to write off this school, as making a move from California is a huge commitment to the only school I applied to that has not released its final decision. Committed to an ABSN program. My heart goes out to those still waiting!

Northeastern ABSN Fall 2016
Oh, I thought one day a week was on the Boston campus as well for taking tests.. my mistake! I'm not particularly worried about online classes, as I've taken them before and had no issues and my boyfriend will be working from home as well. But I don't think the online classes will take away from the students in our cohort working together and getting close :) Let me know if you decide to attend!

Northeastern ABSN Fall 2016
I have decided to attend! I was a little hesitant about the online format as well, but for me, this program seemed to fit the best. I spent a lot of time reading their website and found a lot of resources that explain how the program will work (what time will be spent on the Burlington campus v.s. Boston campus v.s. work done online). Plus, the admissions office has been nothing but helpful and supportive as I stressed through the admission process. I'd suggest contacting them if you're concerned - they're more than happy to answer any of your questions!

Northeastern University Direct Entry September 2016
Just talked to an admissions counselor and finally got some clarification. Those who received the email about the ABSN program are being CONSIDERED for that program and are NOT automatically admitted. Indicating interest in the ABSN program via email forwards your application to the ABSN committee to be reviewed. Luckily, the ABSN program admits on a rolling basis, so she said I should be hearing back in 2-4 weeks. But damn, that email was horribly misleading!!

Northeastern University Direct Entry September 2016
No problem! I didn't have an interview at all. The email I got about my acceptance was the first time I had heard from Northeastern since I applied in November.
