applying to lone star colleges for fall 09

Published

I'm new to this site. I've been coming here browsing for a while, but I hadn't seen anyone posting yet if they were applying at any of the lone star colleges for fall 2009. I just took my HESI and unfortunately only got an 87.23 so that puts my scores at 11.1892 and I don't think I'll get in now. I'll apply at Montgomery as my first choice, then north harris, tomball, and cy-fair. If I don't get in I guess I'll have to try to either retake the Hesi next semester or retake my english 1301 that I got a B in... this is driving me crazy! I started working on the pre-req's over 5 years ago and stopped to have 3 kids now I'm back in the game and I was so disappointed today after my HESI. The competetiveness is just crazy that a B in one class and a B on one test can pretty much take me out of the running. I'm going to keep my hopes up, but I'd sure like to hear if anyone else is applying and what yall's scores are :wink2:

Specializes in (Hopefully one day..) neuro/urology ^.^.
Hey guys,

It is also good to have A's in all 3 classes - English 1301, Psych - 1301 and A&P 1 or 2.

I'm currently taking ap1 right now..I forget do they pick the highest grade of ap1 & 2 or do they average it?

Kayleeray...

2. Complete the following courses with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or higher: BIOL 2401, ENGL 1301 and PSYC 2301. (BIOL 2401 is required to meet the admission criteria; however, the highest grade in BIOL 2401 or 2402 will be used for calculation of GPA).

^^ This is a link to all the admission criteria for Cy-fair (I'm sure it is the same for all other Lonestar schools..considering you submit the same score.)

Specializes in OR, Peds: ED, float pool; ED, PACU.

Can you change your first choice to North Harris? they take 100 students (if I'm not mistaken). I graduated from Tomball ADN program in May '07. I loved it! After we graduated there was a huge turnover with the director and some of the instructors. Hopefully they have it all ironed out by now. I got in on my 3rd try of applying with an 11.7. (first 2 times I had more prereqs to take). It is competitive, but you'll get into wherever you're supposed to be. I believe on my entrance HESI I got an 86.8 on english and 96 on math. I was sooooo bummed about the english, but hey - that test was WEIRD!

Good luck to you!!!

Hey i turned in my paper wk today im so nervous i have a 11.1 im praying now the wait is on!!!!!!

Specializes in ICU.

Good luck to all of you!! I graduated Tomball College in 03 and back then it wasn't nearly this hard AT ALL to get in!

I think I will be turning in my paperwork today!

I know I have to turn in my score sheet & application, but do I have to turn in some kind of transcript with my recent gpa on it?

AH I'm nervous, but confident!

Who did you take your english class from in the mini semester and was it hard i have a b in english and if dont get in this go around i will retake my english to get an a

If your already a student at one of the colleges you just need your score sheet app signed they already have your transcripts

Good day to all!!

I turned in my application packet to Cy-fair last week which included the application, the ranking score sheet (11.7448) and my academic evaluation. Now the waiting begins!! April seems so far away but hopefully I won't have to wait alone. Anybody else in the same boat?

Yes, I am in the boat too! I turned in my application around Jan. 16-17 - and it seems like the days are dragging on!!!!

Lizzie: Hopefully we will hear something no later than April. Good to know I won't have to wait alone!! Do you have any nursing experience already or are you a nubie like me?

I worked in a hospital setting for a little while, but technically, I am a newbie to this... I have been in school forever it seems !!! In between having two children, I am still trying to finish. I hope I get in this time around!
