Applying for Duke ABSN fall 2016

Published

Hello, I am applying to Duke's ABSN program for the fall of 2016 and am wanting to chat with anyone else who is in the same boat! I'm wondering how hard it will be to get in based on GPA, prereqs etc.

Are there any current Duke students who would be wiling to share what their profile looked like before they got in? If they were wait-listed and got in?

Any information would help!

@efrasure93 Thanks! :)

Have you taken the GRE, anyway? It's probably too late to take it, but I was wondering if doing so might strengthen our application, even if we have it waived. Might be useful if we get waitlisted, but I'm not sure. I tend to get overly anxious regarding applications, and second guess everything!

I'm exactly the same way!! I'm still waiting for two of my recommendation letters and my transcript got lost in the mail so I just had to send another. I'm an anxious wreck at the moment [emoji37] I haven't taken the GRE! I'm not sure if it would help or not! I don't know when the dates to take it are either so it may be too late, like you said. I feel like it definitely couldn't hurt an application unless you don't do well on it. If I don't get in the round, it may be something I consider doing to try to boost my application to apply for the spring 2017 class.

It's a horrible feeling, isn't it!? I hope everything works out!! And I feel exactly the same way about the GRE; I'm only applying to Duke this semester b/c of the deadline date, but if I didn't get in, I was going to apply to Duke again, plus UNC and Watts, and maybe a few others. I'm restricted to the NC area for the near future, so that of course limits my options. So, I might register to take the GRE in the spring, just in case I don't get in.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us! :)

I hope everything works out for you too!! Hopefully we all hear something soon! If I don't get into Duke this semester I'm going to apply again next semester and I also plan on applying to UNC and Vanderbilt next semester if I'm not accepted. Duke is my first choice though so hopefully I'll get in this time!

yes... what is left for me is 2 recommendation.... My 1st recommendation id from my professor in Nigeria, 2nd and 3rd ones are from the home health agency and hospital in California where i am volunteering. How strong are they?... i am panicking right now..lol

Finally submitted my application last night! Now just waiting on one recommendation. The wait for results is going to be ridiculous. I'm so nervous!

I submitted my application last week. Now, I am just waiting to make sure they received my final transcript. It's such a relief to have it submitted, but also nerve-racking now as we just have to wait to hear back from them!

does anyone know when they will release the decisions?

I know in previous years it's been March, but I plan on asking in the webinar today

does anyone know when they will release the decisions?

According to their website: "Admissions decisions are made in March (Fall term admission) and July (Spring term admission). Candidates not offered first-round admission will be offered wait list status. Should space become available, candidates will be notified individually via Applicant Self-Service."

I submitted my application a few hours ago! I'm freaking out though, because I just called one of the community colleges that I did my pre-requisites from and they had some issue so they never sent out my transcript. They're going to send it out first thing in the morning-is my application going to be considered incomplete because of this? They have all my other transcripts!

Who attended the recent webinar for financial aid? BEFORE, it was either duke or nothing for me; but after listening to what they have to offer as financial aid, and the dear tuition, I'm beginning to develop cold feet.

Please do we have any ABSN student already enrolled? We need to know how life is for you .

I don't wanna end up paying loan my whole life
