Applying for Duke ABSN fall 2016

Published

Hello, I am applying to Duke's ABSN program for the fall of 2016 and am wanting to chat with anyone else who is in the same boat! I'm wondering how hard it will be to get in based on GPA, prereqs etc.

Are there any current Duke students who would be wiling to share what their profile looked like before they got in? If they were wait-listed and got in?

Any information would help!

Where else is everyone applying?

As of now, I'm only applying to Duke. What about you?

Hello everyone! I am also applying to Duke's ABSN program for fall of 2016. I am currently a senior at FSU and I will be graduating in the spring. My major is in Exercise Science. I'm still working on my personal statement questions as well and hope to have them finished so I can submit my application by the end of the week. I am also waiting on one letter of rec. My GPA is good, but not fantastic. I am so excited to be applying to Duke. My dad had surgery at Duke and I just fell in LOVE with it! I'm also glad that we can all talk through the forum throughout this process. I also plan on applying to some schools in Florida- UF, UCF, and UNF. This is so exciting but so stressful!

Oh wow! You're applying to a lot of places! Is Duke your first choice? And I agree about the excitement/stress!! I have no idea how I'm going to wait until spring to find out if I'm in!

Where else is everyone applying?

In addition to Duke, I'm applying to VCU, UVA, Jefferson College of Health Science (Smaller school in Roanoke, VA), and Johns Hopkins. I am beyond nervous!

Where else is everyone applying?

@Sav768, I think we chatted in the Emory forum earlier :) That said, I have also applied to Emory, UPenn, Drexel and UCLA (MECN program).

Wow it is interesting to see where everyone is applying! I am applying to Drexel, Emory, duke, and George Washington. Good luck to all!!

Hi all, I'm also applying to Duke's ABSN program for fall 2016. If we apply by the December 1 deadline, when can we except to hear back from them?

Last year they heard back on the first Friday of March. I'm not sure if it'll be the same this year or not.

Hey everyone! I am also applying to Duke's Fall 2016 cohort. Other schools I'm applying to are:

UCLA's MECN program (I'm an undergrad here), Univ of San Francisco, UC Davis's MEPN program (their first direct entry class begins in 2016), Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Yale, Penn, Georgetown, Oregon Health & Science Univ, and possibly NYU. I'm currently finishing up my undergrad while taking prereqs. Does anyone know how to calculate the undergraduate GPA when combining quarter and semester classes?

Hi all!

I've been checking out this thread over the last few months to see if there were any updates, it's nice to hear from other fellow applicants! I sent off my application to Duke in mid-October, just waiting for my recs to be finished. I'm finishing up A&P II and Nutrition this semester, and I only have Micro left to take next semester.

I heard from somewhere (I can't remember where, exactly, I think it was from the last webinar) that we should hear back from them regarding our admissions decisions during next February. So, we may hear as early as then, which would be great!

I wanted to ask if any of you have had your GRE test scores waived yet? I haven't, so I'm worried it might be required, though I know I have a high enough undergraduate GPA.

The Admissions Office also sent out an email today about signing up for the webinar next week on 19th November, in case anyone is interested.

Good luck to all of you with your application! :)

Hi! @adairfletch I haven't heard anything about having my GRE waived and I know that my GPA is high enough so maybe they are waiting to do that? I know the website says anyone with below a 3.0 has to take the GRE, as I'm sure you know lol, so I think if it's above that then you don't have to take it. That's what I'm assuming at least.
