Hi, every one
I applied to 5 institutions for the fall 2010 entrance- Riohodo, la harbor, cerittos, PCC, Elac...I am sad because Riohondo has denied my application. I wonder if they actually do the lottery or they look at your GPA. My GPA is 3.8 and I got A's all my prerequites...is it a good chance to get in???...Also, Does anyone know which schools are currently accepting RN applications...I wanna apply more...I am too worried...I really need to get in this year...private schools or out of state schools are fine...please let me know soon...thanks in advanced
I think that most schools are going to the once a year application period. Cerritos and Rio Hondo also only take apps one a year. Cerritos takes apps in March and Rio (I believe) is February. When I called Santa Ana last year, they said that they had 1000 people on their waiting list and were not accepting any apps until they got through the list. at least at cypress and cerritos, once you apply, you dont have to apply yearly, you just have to let them know that you want to stay in the pool of applicants.
I applied to riohondo, cerritos, Elac, Pcc, LAHC
that sounds scary, 3 or more years of waiting ...time is money, i am too worried
I guess I will try calstate and UC...at least their nursing programs are not lottery based. However, my couselor just told me that there would be very strict requirements due to state buget cut????
btw, i totally agree with u, fkakar...california is so competitive
reading this makes me want to cry even more. I've been so stressed the last couple days. I haven't received a letter yet, reading this post confirms I didnt get in for sure. But I'm happy to those who did received a letter. Good Luck on your TEAS examine. Hope I get in the next time around.
Hey Everyone! I took the TEAS this morning at goldenwest and wanted to let you know what to expect next week. Goldenwest does the test online, so you get your results right away. It was not as bad as I was expecting. The test is in 4 parts: Reading, math, science and grammer. Reading and grammer were a breeze. Math was not hard, but you have to watch your time, they give you an hour or so for 55 questions. Only 1 geometry question, a few algebra, mostly multi-part questions that look at how you think when solving a problem. The science was mostly physical science (the first question on my test was about techtonic plates????) a few about the periodic table and several on scientific reasoning (they gave you an experiment and asked what you were trying to find and what the variables are in the experiment). The study materials from ATI helped. I was done in about 1 1/2 hours and was the first one done with the test. I hope this helps!! good luck!
hi, everyone...how is going?
i just got accepted into nursing program at rio hondo college. I can't believe it. When i called the nursing department in March, they said that i wasn't in, but then last week, they called me and said: congratulation for being accepted. ..(I guess i was in waiting list)...and I just took the teas test this afternoon. i passed it. I will be in the program this fall 2010...oh yea.... my first try.
pls tell me how you guys doing
LeahFull - congratulation!!! that's great, u can have more time to decide where to go. I can't. I have too many nursing paper work to do and everything is due in two weeks. I will start my nursing program in this June . I thought I would be able to party up this whole summer.
Trogina - the science portion was hard. Math was easy, but watch your time. (memorize the English and metric conversion) Reading and English were easy too. I would sugest you to get the online practice test on ATI. It really helped. The math portion on the practice test was very similar to the actual test. However, the science portion was much harder than the study guide.
Good luck to you. Tell me after you take it. Ok?
Wish you guys the best
hey trogina i just took the TEAS today, I ended up with a 87.1%. English and Math were easy but science was hard just know tectonic plates (Convergent-subduction / Divergent / transform) (D=VT, V=D/T, T=D/V) etc... try going to Rader's CHEM4KIDS.COM Rader's GEOGRAPHY 4 KIDS.COM and.... Rader's PHYSICS 4 KIDS.COM it will help YOU OUT TONS I PROMISE!

i am a student at saddleback college. Where else did you apply? I know that golden west and cypress you can only apply a once a year. And santa ana college is a long waiting list which im thinking of applying to but i don't know if i want to wait that long(3 years or more i think). I think cypress also has a long waiting list( probably 3 years or more). I'm so frustrated on how its so competitive. I just wish they had more teachers or classes or something for people that want to become nurses. I mean they know there is a shortage of nurses and there are so many ppl that want the job.. then why don't they fund the schools so they can accept more students. lol sorry i just had to say all of that..
