Apply for RN - lottery or high GPA

Published

Hi, every one

I applied to 5 institutions for the fall 2010 entrance- Riohodo, la harbor, cerittos, PCC, Elac...I am sad because Riohondo has denied my application. I wonder if they actually do the lottery or they look at your GPA. My GPA is 3.8 and I got A's all my prerequites...is it a good chance to get in???...Also, Does anyone know which schools are currently accepting RN applications...I wanna apply more...I am too worried...I really need to get in this year...private schools or out of state schools are fine...please let me know soon...thanks in advanced

Yeah I just turned everything in yesterday, got the cpr card, and purchased the kit today online. Finally got to register for the class so I'm excited.

Hi guys, CONGRATS on being accepted into the program. Hopefully, some first time application luck will come my way!! I'm applying everywhere this fall. Quick question about Rio Hondo... on their website it says that they only have Fall admission. Do you guys know if that's true, because for some reason I have October 1 listed as their application deadline for Spring 2011 admission. Am I crazy or is their website just not updated?

Thanks for the info, and congrats again on getting accepted!!!

I'm not too sure but definitely give them a call. They're pretty nice :)

hi, kristenrae

do u know about orientation, do we need to attend orientation?

have u enrolled for the class in june?

let me know soon..thanks

There's no orientation, I called them last week to confirm that. I enrolled in the classes last week. As soon as they get your physical, b/g check, cpr card, etc, they'll send you an add code. Oh and make sure you apply to get your student id on the website. Hope we get the same class! Mine is the M,T, Thursday one.

hi, everyone...how is going?

i just got accepted into nursing program at rio hondo college. I can't believe it. When i called the nursing department in March, they said that i wasn't in, but then last week, they called me and said: congratulation for being accepted. ..(I guess i was in waiting list)...and I just took the teas test this afternoon. i passed it. I will be in the program this fall 2010...oh yea..:p.. my first try.

pls tell me how you guys doing

Anyone hear from Cerritos yet? I got a letter saying that I am alternate #25 for fall. Apparently there is a 7 hr orientation on June 21 we have to go to. this makes 3 alternate lists that I am on now.

I didn't get a letter in the mail from Cerritos yet, so I called them today at 4:30 and the secretary said they sent out letters on Tuesday May 25th. She asked for my last and first name and said I was #126. She said I probably won't get into the program in Fall, and I'm looking at alternate status for Spring '11. I'm sort of confused here because 175 were chosen to take the TEAS (1st lottery)out of the 426 that applied. 50 chosen for Fall and 50 for Spring= 100. If I'm 126 out of 175 shouldn't that still give me a chance to be an alternate for Fall, considering if 26 people don't accept because they're going to another school instead? She said most likely I will get in for spring but thats still a long time to wait! I really want to start working towards my nursing degree now! :cry: Can anyone help clarify or know of anything that can help me relieve my anxiety? I want to ask the secretary at cerritos more questions, but it always seems like they're trying to get you off the phone as quickly as possible, not really calming your nerves.

See you in class Jenny!
