Applied to 15 community college nursing programs across California.

Published

Most of them are lottery, the rest, about 3, maintain waitlists. What are my odds of getting in the first year I apply? All prereqs are done and everything.

My list of CC nursing programs I've applied to:

De Anza-waitlist

Solano-waitlist

Cabrillo-waitlist

City college of SF

Ohlone

Evergreen-Not selected

American River-not selected

Merrit

Chabot

Chaffey

Riverside

Santa Rosa

Golden West

Forget the last 2.

So far been shot down by 2 lotteries. Is it hopeless? Are they truly randomized or spots in future nursing classes doled out by administration's favorites?

Should I make plans on skipping the wait, and applying to private nursing programs, thereby adding more student loans?

Need some perking up here. Would love to hear stories about peeps getting selected right out of the gate.

Good for you! Apply everywhere you can! I am applying to American River and Sac city this semester for the first time. I am also in the process of getting on Solano's wait list

I'm curious, did you get in somewhere? If not are you applying to all of them again (except the wait lists of course).

With 15, I am sure you have a good chance. But I know how hard it is to get into nursing school in California. Is there any way you can apply to out of state schools?

Some community colleges won't even consider students that are outside of their district because the in-district residents have a "first come, first serve" policy. Maybe you should look into universities or other college campuses, maybe even out of state as someone else suggested

Hey, thanks for the replies. It's been awhile since I posted this. Some news since I posted this, I got accepted to 4 schools. One in City college of SF, Riverside and on waitlists to De Anza and the one in Fairfield.

Thanks again all.

Congrats! So I assume you have started? Which school did you end up going with? How many times did you apply before you were accepted? Thanks, just wanted to have an idea of how long I will have to wait... :)
