Hello everyone! I was an avid reader of last years articles on applying to schools here, and it really helped me get an idea of how many points I would need. I thought I'd return the favor. So far I've only applied at PCC with 54.5 points (I think). For some reason, I'm not getting any discretionary points at Chemeketa and very few at Mt. Hood, so I might just forgo them this year. Is it just me or are schools going to a model where you can only really have a chance if you take the prereqs there? Anyways, good luck everyone!!!!
I am anxiously waiting! I have only applied to PCC this year and got accepted the first round and then waitlisted at #11!!!
I have not been called yet and keeping my fingers crossed for that phonecall any day now:)
Good luck!
Hey every one!I've been following this thread for months now and finally created an account! Haha I applied to OHSUs BSN and ABSN and were wait listed for both and applied to PCC and got "accepted" the first round of emails and then wait listed the second round :-/ #27 and hopeful! I've been eagerly waiting to hear if others on the waitlist have gotten calls! Hopefully this week! Congrats to all who are in though!!
Hey Harpers Mom, from whom did you hear that info?
I don't know where Harpers Mom got her info but I was similarly told by PCC that unless they had a lot of their responses back from the people initially offered slots prior to the June 14th deadline, they would wait until after the deadline to start notifying alternates. I'm guessing she was was told the same thing.
On another note, I got offered a slot at Clackamas today, and I think I'm going to take it! Yay!
That is awsome! Congrats! I am probably the most impatient person in the world..haha....waiting for the call is the hardest thing ever!

Does anyone who has taken BI-234 at Clackamas still have a syllabus or know which chapters are to be covered for the course? My fall term instructor is TBD and so I can't email them yet (online course). I will be focusing on my first term of Nursing & was told that Micro, although not req, should have been taken prior to the program (FYI for future applicants). It was recommended that I study Micro this summer in order to be successful fall term (or at least survive, lol). If anyone can help I would truly appreciate it!!
I took BIO 234 online at clackamas this spring term and I am glad I did because it was extremely challenging/time consuming. I do not recommend taking it online. You get a lab kit and do all the labs at home. Instructors tell you to plan on studying about 20-30 hours a week! If you can take the class in person you are way better off. Im just happy the class is over and I can focus on nursing courses this fall :)
Good luck!
While Micro isn't required for application to the CC programs, it is required to be taken prior to the beginning of the second quarter of the nursing program. I am fairly certain it is an OCNE requirement, across the board, no matter what school you attend. I too suggest taking it on campus and prior to starting the nursing program. I really can't picture how the labs work at home - it seems like it would be a lot to set up. It is challenging (but also really fun if you are a science geek like me)!
