Hello everyone! I was an avid reader of last years articles on applying to schools here, and it really helped me get an idea of how many points I would need. I thought I'd return the favor. So far I've only applied at PCC with 54.5 points (I think). For some reason, I'm not getting any discretionary points at Chemeketa and very few at Mt. Hood, so I might just forgo them this year. Is it just me or are schools going to a model where you can only really have a chance if you take the prereqs there? Anyways, good luck everyone!!!!
Hey Everyone.
I know for Clackamas CC, we need to purchase a lab coat as part of our uniform. I assume it's the same for the other schools. I just found a great website for lab coats. I was even able to find a 20% off coupon code. I purchased a Dickies lab coat for under $26, including shipping. The website is Professional Medical Lab Coats & Jackets and the coupon code to enter at checkout is RMN6713SAVE20
The coupon code does not expire until 8/30/2013 (allegedly).

As another person who took 234, I would highly recommend that you take it on-campus and before the nursing program begins. PCC requires students who haven't taken it to do so the first term, but students have spoken about how challenging this is and that it really takes away from focusing on the nursing courses. I did an online/at-home chemistry class this term, and even at the introductory level I found it challenging and found that it took a lot more time to complete the work for it than a traditional on campus class would have, even accounting for commute time (which was 30-45 minutes each way)
