How's everyone doing with their Apps?
I applied to MHCC, CCC, PCC and Linfield.
It's my first year applying and I'm a nervous wreck!!!
How long does it usually take to hear whether or not you got an interview?
I was glad to see CCC changed their deadline to Feb 15th like the other OCNE schools-I think it'll make the waiting more bearable!
Anyone else want to share points to see how tight the competition is this year?
Other than Mt. Hood, I don't get too many discretionary points.
Heres what I *think* I have (figuring them myself):
MHCC-63 points
CCC-50 or 51 points depending on how they round up your gpa
PCC-54 points
Good luck everyone!!!
Let the nail biting, stalking the mailbox begin!
I also got my letter today. I am going to be there on 21st. Well, I am not as high as many of you guys. I think I have the lowest gpa. I had two Bs. My GPA was 38.5., foreign language, 300 CNA hrs,. Do you guys think they gave the last day for the lowest points? My point was 58 for PCC.:redbeathe.
Thanks nursetobe3. I have all my pre-reqs completed, so I think I would be in good shape to apply at Clark. I'm assuming classes from MHCC would transfer? I'm anxious to hear from MHCC.
:tinkbll: I am sorry that you did not get good news from PCC. My friend was invited to Mt hood last year out of all CCs. there is still hope for you. MHCC classes will transfer to any CCs or university.
I get a rejection letter from PCC, but it is the school I wanted to go to least, so I'm not too stressed about it. I'm not sure of my points, but I applied with 3.89 overall gpa, A&P 231&232 completed with As (233 not completed at time of application) as well as an A in Microbiology. I do not have CNA/work experience, and I did my core requirements work at MHCC. I also applied to MHCC and OHSU. I should get an interview at MHCC since I have the indistrict/current student points, and I rocked the essay for OHSU so I feel that is a good possibility too. We'll see! Best of look to those of you who got interviews, and to those of you who are waiting to hear on other invites as well!
Hey kmdguy,
I am in the same situation as you 4.0, Statistics, Foreign Languages, and 59 points. I thought that the points for a B in A&P1 was weird as well. But I guess in the end, it shows in your GPA so it doesn't really matter. There are only so many questions they can ask related to Nursing. The general genre will probably be "Why you want to be a nurse?". My first choice is OHSU as well, so fingers crossed for both of us!! Except we don't find out for another 2 months! XD
Last year a friend who is at PCC Nursing school now said she heard from them a week or two after she took essay. I don't know how they will do it this time, so we will see.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ON ESSAYS :)
Awesome Yellow, who knows, perhaps we'll end up in the same cohort either at PCC or OHSU. Do you know if all the schools have a "deadline" by which they need to notify everyone, so that if there are multiple acceptances a person would have a chance to determine which of the schools they wish to attend?
I'm waiting on OHSU, also... Many Portland schools request a deposit by May 1, but OHSU seems to notify later. I bet PCC will be mid-May or early June for their deposit. Last year, OHSU notified applicants at the beginning of May, but their email said June for this year! I guess they're pretty confident they can fill a class :)
Good luck OHSU/PCC peeps... Hey, at least the proctored essay was good practice for PCC!
Oh, and I thought the extra point for a B in A&P was kind of lame, too. But I bet I wouldn't if I got a B!
Hey I got waitlisted too! Just to let you know I have talked to a couple of people who have gone to Linfield and they have all told me that people on the wait list have a good chance of getting in. I don't know about you but that made me feel a lot better. I hope we both get in and will be the merry wait listers that work extra extra hard I will let you know if I hear anything so you know when they have spots "opening up!" Good Luck!
