I posted recently using this term. I want to apologize for using it without knowing what it really means to you. I am (relatively) new to nursing - I have mostly worked as a scientist. Clearly it's not a nice thing to say, and I am sorry for titling my post with those words.
Best to you.
Again, just because she has been on this site a lot does not grant her any seniority. Especially since we have not seen any of her credentials. Why in the hell is this even a topic? Please let's drop the pissing match over seniority and accept we're all professionals here.
I have observed that some of us are more professional than others.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious. I can amend my credentials to show that I have a doctorate in nursing.
Doesnt mean I have one.
Its the internet and anyone can be what ever they like, doesnt mean they are.

Quite true. I find it odd that you come after me when the previous poster was the one that asked about my credentials. I was merely asking the same question in return. Yes. we can all lie about it - which is why I don't ask until someone starts asking me.
Let's just be nice, can't we? Life is hard. It just is. It is so much easier - and it feels better - to lift someone up. You guys have done that with me, forgiven my words. Kindness is a good thing.
Unfortunately with the internet despite our best attempts threads taken on a life of their own. I once started a thread meant to be funny, fortunately it got overrun by those who wanted to point out what I horrible human being for finding the black humor in situations.
I think nety is the wrong term. Maybe horizontal violence would be better because it takes the assumption out of it that its only old nurses who are mean to young nurses. In my limited almost three years out of school, I've found the older nurses a brilliant source of knowledge and guidance
In my current employment, I have one charge nurse who would have to be one of the crustiest old bats out. She is the most amazing nurse, and absolute source of knowledge and she will happily share with others. In my per diem job, the older nurses on the wards are brilliant and happy to help out the visiting staff
As a student I've worked with another young nurse who was an absolute cow to me. She accused me of leaving a patient in a urine soaked bed (which didnt happen) and absolutely spat the dummy at my clinical tutor who happened to be a much older nurse who probably had more experience in her little toe than this young nurse did in her entire career.

Do you have a persecution complex?
Because I wasnt coming after you. Merely pointing out on the internet that anyone can be what ever they say they want to be. And if it comes down to it, a poster with a well documented posting history is always going to have considerable more creds than a poster who joined the site in september 2015 and has about 18 posts to their name, regardless of what ever creds that person is displaying
I'll believe you when I'm working along side you or had another way to verify your credentials. However in the grand scheme of things, I really dont give a toss
And by the way, in the interests of being honest about credentials. I dont have a BSN, I have a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) unfortunately all nurses doesnt have that option.

You quoted my post rather than the one that initiated this discussion. Excuse me for believing it was me you were directing the comment towards.

Pretty sure I've never even written a word about my own credentials save for the settings in my account. And frankly, no one cares if you believe me, or anyone, about what they claim as licensure.

I feel bad for starting this mess. Please don't have bad feelings, people. Life is far too short.Thank you all for your input. I value your words, and I wish you all well.
No worries really - this is just a very good example of why many of us do not like the term NETY.
View it as a learning experience! :)
Closing this thread as it has veered off-topic........going from a sincere, polite, and professional apology to a sparring match.
Please try to remember that we are all nurses (or students) who are supposed to be professional. We should all be on the same team instead of bent on driving a wedge.
Both sides.....new and seasoned nurses.....can learn from each other.
