Anyone wishing to start BSN in 2012?

Published

Just wondering if anyone here is planning on starting a BSN program in 2012?

If so, what pre-reqs are you completing this year?

What schools do you plan on applying to?

Probably 2013 for me, but what are you planning to take this year? I am meeting with an academic counselor next week to figure out what I need to take. I have to go part time because I have kids. Right now I am taking a child development and nutrition class, but this summer I am thinking about taking a chemistry or math:/ My least favorite....

I'm not 100% what I will be taking this summer it all depends on whether they sign off on my pre-req classes way back from high school! :p

Go us for being ahead of the game!

I AM! :p Sign ups for pre-reqs are in a few weeks so I'm still deciding. I'm actually thinking of throwing in a nursing course that prepares you to become a CNA so I can use it to get some experience. Otherwise, I have to take ochem and A&P. What classes are you taking? Are you going to school during summer?

I'm looking at nursing schools up and down the West Coast. Before I was planning on only applying to schools in my city, but now I'm realizing (due to crazy thread posts at allnurses) that I have to apply EVERYWHERE and just see which program accepts me. I'm also starting to lean toward private schools with shorter waitlists. What are you planning... do you a number one pick or list of preferences?

Yep I am starting classes this summer too! I only plan to apply for 2 in state programs, but like you said after reading many of these forums I am a little worried and think I should be applying for 5 instead! GAH.

I am, praying that I can get accepted. I have all the hard stuff to take, Chem, Micro, A&P. I'm trying to start this summer & that way I can take my time & make sure I get an A

Hi,

I will be transfering to a university in Wisconsin in 2011 to finish out some pre-reqs there. I have to take Physics, Organic Chemistry and 3 nursing preq classes. In speaking with the director of nursing she told me because I repeated 2 of my classes that my essay and volunteer work needs to be really good to stand out. I am supposed to follow-up with her later this year to let her know if I would still like to attend there school. Also, told me to have a backup plan should I not get accepted to the program but not to change my goal wanting to be a nurse.

I figured if I don't apply I will never know whether or not I would have been accepted. I just leave it in GOD hands. He knows whats in my heart.

I'm applying in January 2012 to Jacksonville University and University of North Florida. Enrolled in Chemistry, Stats, Ethics and Med. Terminology for the summer. Organic Chemistry and Microbiology, TEAS and NET in the fall. Good luck to everyone...

I would like to start in the fall 2011 but since I have been out of school for 7 years, I have to take intro classes of biology and chem along with my pre-reqs. This next year I will be taking all my biol. and chem. classes. So I don't know how long it will take me since I am also a full time mommy also. But when I do apply, it will be to UT of Austin and Texas State.

I am hoping to be ready in 2012. This summer I am going to take intro to anatomy and physio, and this fall I am going to human anatomy and chemistry, followed by Micro and Physio in the spring. I plan on applying to at least 12 schools across the country. All of which have family housing and are near good public schools for my daughter. I plan to only apply to BSN programs because I already have all my general education courses completed, I also plan on volunteering at the local hospital until then!!!

WOW! You guys are fierce! I've really got to bring my "A" game if I want to make it. I just don't know if I can keep up the pace..... Are any of you working while finishing your pre-reqs?
