Anyone waiting on Acceptance/Rejection Letter '2012

Published

I am now playing the waiting game. Applied to only 1 school for Spring of 2012, finished my pre-req's with a 3.7 GPA and passed the NLN in the 94 percentile. Now Im waiting to hear whether or not I got in. Advisor said decision would be made middle of this month with letters going out end of this month. These weeks seem to be dragging. I feel confident I got in with my scores but who knows how everyone else did. So there is always that doubt.

Just looking for some company for those playing the waiting game too. :yeah:

Finally got my acceptance email this week!! :) Hope everyone who is still waiting gets "the thick envelope"!

For those who have to wait until January, I would definitely recommend at least starting your titers. No matter when and where you end up going to nursing school, you will have to get these done, so it's best to just get the things out of the way that you know you will need... CPR card, blood titers, etc. One less thing to worry about once you get your acceptance!

What titers are required? CPR is a one credit class for those of us that need to have full time credits for financial aid, so that will wait until the semester starts.

Tiff, most schools require Hep B (3 shots to be done before clinicals start), MMR (which most of us had as babies), varicella (my school requires the shot or a signed document indicating that we had it), a TB skin test, and TDAP within the last 10 years.

I'm old so I am exempt from the varicella, not sure about TB and TDAP. Already had my MMR, and I have one more shot to finish up the Hep B series. I will ask my school about the DTAP and TB skin test. Thanks!

Remember that titers can be much cheaper than vaccinations and do not expire... once you are immune, then you are good to go... So the moral of the story is to get all your titers first, then if any results show that you are not immune, then you can get the vaccinations for them. This can save you a lot of money in the long run...

And don't forget to get QUANTITATIVE titers and not just qualitative (which only show immune or non-immune), because many hospitals require an actual number to prove that you are immune to a particular disease.

Just found out that I was accepted! What a relief! Now on to the tiny details to make sure I'm good to go by January. :yeah:

I just want to say that if you are starting clinical rotations in the spring then you may need to have your CPR certification before the semester starts. At my university we have to have proof of immunizations, CPR, drug test, background check, and physical assessment done well before classes start in January. I would just double check with your university regarding the CPR class. Also I had chicken pox as a child and I had to get a titer done to show proof of immunity so you may have to get a titer done to show that you have immunity.

I hear you. It is especially tough to play that game.

I am still waiting. I should hopefully know in a week.

Hang in there! Good luck to all those still waiting!
