Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.
Updated:
OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!
SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:
OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:
1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.
2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.
3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves
4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate
5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.
Oh, ohh, one more...
? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone
OK your turn....
haha that comment is funny. Do you know when will u be talkign the test? and how are you preparing yourself? I feel like there is still a lot of info i dont know but i keep taking the practice tests, those really help me.
I am scheduled to sit on 02/18/09. I am doing the first tip of Suzanne's plan, plus I am working on strengthening my skills on answering priority questions. I like to keep a sense of humor on the situation while learning from past mistakes. feliz3

hi feliz3!Sorry that u really hv to xplain that,i know those questions wud just simply answer the principle of ABC but that s not what m tryin to point out...I guess m just confused of the contradicting facts from my sources...BTW, hv u tried answering kaplan?
Dear vamos-rafa,
I am not understanding what are you trying to say to me...what is a BTW? What is it you are trying to point out? For starters, please, avoid word's short cuts which have no meaning to me as I do not do text messaging. That form of communication is ruining teenager's ability to use written communication correctly. I am not a teenager, besides, I definitely cannot adopt text messaging as my primary form of written communication because that will be reflected while writing the nursing progress notes. Text messaging writing is definitely inappropriate within that setting.
I noticed you do need stronger foundation on Fundamentals of Nursing, Critical Thinking and Prioritization. I tell you this with humility for I have seen a lot of people, including me, fail the NCLEX more than twice on account of those three items. I am working on critical thinking skills and how to apply, ABC/Maslow for answering questions pertaining prioritization and delegation. You need to work on that as well, rafa. There is no short cuts, in this matter, either, rafa: you know it or you don't. This fact is going to be reflected on your performance when you sit take the NCLEX, rafa. Do you have this book, Saunders 4th edition, Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination by Linda Anne Silvestri? This book has 76 chapters, and the end of each chapter there is the a practice test. Do the practice test before reading the chapter. It is a great exercise to do the practice test before reading the chapter for you learn what you do not know reflected on the score you get. Read the rationalization, so you learn why your coices were wrong. Then, go back and read the chapter and do the practice test again after reading the chapter. I learned to do that from the first tip of Suzanne's Plan. She requires from people who wants to participate in her plan to prepare for it slightly different from what I've suggested you. Studying this way has helped me out a lot, and I thank Suzanne for her suggestion. I hope this helps, rafa.
Best, feliz3

Zoom zoom,
Sorry for late reply. Nclex tested me in every area. Luckly I had no Select All Answers!! yes no SATA at all. I had alot of prioritity and Infectious disease questions. I had one math cal and alot of meds.
How I prepared, I took Kaplan and studied the test taking strategy in Kaplan. Some questions I had no idea but because I mastered the test taking strategy, I was able to get to the right answer through elimination method. NEVER SELECT right answer first. I used prioritization book by Lacharity. That book was very helpful. I had posted disease and infection page I got from this site the evening before my exam. That was very very helpful. I would go through that everynight before I sleep. I only studied for 4 weeks. I belive If I were to do it over I would study and make sure i understand prioritization and infectious disease. I hope this helps. You can do it. Good luck.
