Anyone taking Nursing at Solano Community College in Fairfield, Ca?

Published

:confused:Im just wondering if there is anyone goin to the school im supposed to be attending this Fall..and how is it so far?

I am currently hacking away at prereqs at Solano. I plan on attending their RN program. My mom did, and I have known many other people who have as well. Solano College has a great reputation with the Hospitals in Northern California. I also have met a copuple who went to Napa Valley College, which is about 20 min. away. I have heard alot of negative things their program. I have friends who have also attended private colleges and wern't happy with them. I have heard nothing but great things about Solano! Good Luck!

Yea..my auntie went to Napa Valley for RN but thats back when it was a good school...like over 20 years ago..but yea its gonna take awhile at Solano but I know its gonna be worth it...what class are you taking now?

I am taking Anatomy in Fall (already registered), Phisio in Spring, and Micro in Summer. The last two, if circumstances permit.(like capacity). I will also try to take one gen ed class each semester as well. I am a stay at home mom, and try to take whatever I can fit in while the kids are in school, without letting my other mother/wifely duties take a back seat. That will be just until the actual program begins. How long ago did you apply to Solano's program? I am tryinh to get an idea how long it will be after I apply. They say 2-3 years, but they also now start a new program every semester from what I unferstand. I also had a friend who graduated about a year ago, she got in in 8 months! Which was before they implemented the new program each semester. I just want to be ready! I also don't want to be taking any of those other classes the first semester. I want to devote all my efforts to the program, I know it will be very difficult.

I know..I'm kinda in a minor set back because my I.D got stolen so I cant even start my classes yet..because I have to have it to take the assessment tests...but you know online classes would be ideal for you..with all the other things you have to do between work, kids, and everything else. I am trying to start as soon as possible because I know the pre-requisites are gonna take FOREVER!!! 8 months doesnt sound too bad...I heard of people waiting to get in the program longer than that..thats my only fear is that its gonna take too long to get into the nursing program after I finish the pre-requisites..I would like to keep in contact with you though through this because you are the only one on here going to Solano..I think..well nobody else replied to my question..so I'm guessing there's nobody but me and you...

I'm taking A&P II and Micro in the Fall and will be applying to programs after that. I'm applying to as many RN/LVN programs as possible, if I meet the criteria and they're no longer than 1-1/2 hours away. Solano is on my list to apply to. Wow, if the wait was only 8 months, that would be great!

I'm going to take my pre-regs in this Fall. I think you are better than me because I am an international student and English is my second language also I am stay at home mom so I have to take online class as much as I can. It 's very difficult for me to study in English but I'll do my best. I know it is going to take forever for me but I'm glad that I start it now. We might see each other at college. And I hope everyone good luck including me:yeah:

Getting a decent GPA will help you get a better place on the waitlist as well. They look at your pre-req GPA seperately, then your overall GPA. I have been taking classes since Fall 2006, 1-2 a semester.I took Nutri 10, Math 102 with English 370, then PE with Eng 1(online), right now I am taking Chem 110 at NapaValley to bypass math 104 and Chem 10. Doing my chem at Napa saves a year!!! If you havn't taken your Chem I would reccomend x-fering to Napa for one semester just to take chem only, that is the only clas I would advise takinh at Napa. It's a nice school but unorganized, and I know Nurses who have taken their program and were unable to pass the state boards. Their pass rates are bad. If you want more info let me know. So I am registered for Anatomy and Music 008(online) for the Fall. What kind of high school classes do you have and any other college classes?

Well I havent to college at all except for Western Career College...I was taking Medical Assiting..but...I was only there for a month due to transportation..and i guess it wasnt for me..but..I also have my GED and thats all of my Ed. right there..lol i have been tryna think of where exactly to start on when starting my pre-reqs. Any suggestions?

Math, math, math! That is where you need to start. In high school did you take any pre-algebra, or algebra? If you completed it with a C or better it will place you higher in your courses. You need math for just about everything.Math to Chem, Chem to Phisiology, Phisiology to Microbiology.Anatony has no prereqs, but is hard to get into if you don't have good priority registration. I have C priority and finally got in this semester, you could always try to add though. You need math for just about everything though. I am going this route,Math 102, to Chem 110(at Napa),Anatomy,Phisiology then Microbiology. If you take Chem at Solano you need a higher Math than 102, you need 104 ,an additional Chemistry class,(so 2) and then you can take bio sci 5 and 14. If you havn't ordered your high school transcripts you might want to think about doing that. Even though you didn't graduate you may have something on there that will save you a semester or two.

I'm not attending Solano currently, but it's one of the ones I plan to apply there as soon as I finish Microbiology in a few weeks. It's good to hear they have a good reputation!

i am also taking anatomy this fall with john nogue. who is your instructor?
