:confused:Im just wondering if there is anyone goin to the school im supposed to be attending this Fall..and how is it so far?
Hey love2nurse4life, I think I've seen you on another thread regarding chemistry. How did your assessment go?
I decided a month ago to pursue nursing. So I'm just waiting for my high school & college transcripts to get sent to Solano. I've got a counseling appt set up for next Friday.
I'm anxious because I want to get pre-reqs done as quickly as possible...I just found out from a friend that you sign up on the wait list AFTER you've completed pre-reqs:scrying:. So, looks like my 5yr plan may be more like 6-7? Unless there's a shortcut...
Does anyone know if I'd be able to get into Chem 110 if I've taken pre-alg/alg and 1yr of high school chem (over 10 yrs ago.? I also completed Finite Math in high school and college. Would anyone advise against it?
If you are willing to travel the 20 mins. to Napa and take Chen 110 there it would save you a year!. If you stay at Solano you will have to complete math 104 and take chem 160 and chem 10! The other way you can just have math 102, and the chem 110 will get you into Phsio and Micro, I checked with a Solano counselor. I believe if you took some math in high school you must have 2 semesters wil a C or better in math to bypass your math. That is awesome if you do. I just finished Chem 110 at Napa with Mr.Smith. Depending on which Chem you had in high school , you may not need to take it. Check it out to be sure. If you feel comfortable with your knowledge I would get signed off on the classes and proceed. Alot of the Chem and math knowledge will be reviewed in Pharmacology. Also, a site I found very helpful was ratemyprofessor.com I look up different instructors before class starts, and even before registering sometimes. Just to get a feel for what to expect. Good Luck!
Thanks, kris! Are you almost done with pre-reqs? Looks like I'm in the same boat as you as far as juggling with kids' school schedules. But luckily, my husband has a somewhat flexible work schedule and is very supportive.
It felt like Christmas in August when I received copies of my high school and college transcripts in the mail. I'll be able to add into Chem10 as long as room permits. I'm just hoping that after my counseling appt this coming Friday that I'll be able to add into Anatomy, as well, without having to take Bio16. I haven't been to school in a few years. Is it crazy trying to get added into Anatomy? Do professors have waiting lists? Do they go by priority?
Solano does go by priority, but if you have previous credits they will be articulated next semester and you will recieve a higher priority. I suggest showing up every time the anatomy class you want to add meets and try to add that way. I would try a couple of them. With any luck you may find an opening within the first couple sessions. I tried one class last semester with no luck. This semester is the first time I've had enough priority to register. Not exactly for my first pick, but I am still delighted.
FYI- They will not let the people stay who are trying to add, after they take roll and pick a few names out of the "hat" those who are not added have to leave, but keep coming back. Also don't worry about bio 16, it's only a course advisory, you don't have to have it. I don't.
As far as classes left before I can apply, I have Anatomy, Phisio, and Micro. With any luck I will be ready to apply to Solano's waitlist this time next year. I will hopefully take Phisio in Spring, then Micro over the Summer. I have been taking classes for 2 years now. Only 1 or 2 a semester. I am also taking Mucis 008 with Walt Mickl..... for my human. gen ed. I hear it is a super easy A. I know Anatomy will require all my attention so anything easy will be great.
Chem 10 is the higher Chem class right? That is great if you can start with that! Do't get discouraged with the wait time, it will fly by. Just last Spring I was feeling frusterated like this was never going to happen, but finally being able to take an actual Pre-req that relates to nursing renews my excitment! I feel like a gitty.
I'm not attending Solano currently, but it's one of the ones I plan to apply there as soon as I finish Microbiology in a few weeks. It's good to hear they have a good reputation!
Hi, Jess6,
Glad you're almost done with your prereqs - isn't that such a relief?!!! Did you apply at Solano yet? Just wondering how LONG the list is. Let us know when you receive your wait list number.
It sucks to be at the bottom of the totem pole again in regards to registration. Luckily, I've had plenty of experience...I see the "adding" process is the same no matter the school.
Yeah, the silver-lining for me would be to have Chem 10 this semester, so I can try to add into Physio next semester!
Thanks for the heads up! It's great to see a different perspective and motivation from fellow students trying to get into the program.
Hi everyone. I have decided to add Solano Community College to my list of schools to apply to. I know I have my heart set on going to the college that I currently attend, Cal State East Bay, but I do need back up schools. Does anyone know if my credits for my pre-req classes will transfer because my school goes on a quarter system...or does it even matter? Should I try to apply any way? As in my other posts, sorry if I sound annoying...I'm still confused, lol.
You don't sound annoying, you're just like the rest of us on this forum trying to find some answers! Check Solano.edu for their graduation requirements. I think they require a a certain number of units be taken with them(meaning with Solano), but I am not sure.Maybe units taken during the actual program would work? If all else fails meet with a counselor. I think the place I read that was under option A of the graduation requirements, but again check everything for yourself, and don't take anyones word on anything. It's always good to do your own research, what if I am wrong? Good luck and let me know what you find out. Good luck!
I'll be taking my assesment test on Sept 16. in Solano and when someone mentioned MATH, MATH, MATH...I'm worried... I hope I do ok. I would really like to get started.
Though, I'm still wondering, I have a Associates Degree in Pre-dentistry from another country...which was about 8 years ago (my goodness!) anyone think that i could get some credits from my subjects? and do i have get it evaluated before or after assesment test?

I am taking Margarita Molnar, but am going to try and add John Nogue's
T-Th class because it fits better with my kids school schedule.
